It would be better to declare him criminally insane, which would help to discredit his ideology.

As for the electoral issues, the public will blame the ruling party for being responsible for making their children targets and vote them out in favour of a more right wing party, which is more to the liking of this man.

Well that's what happened in Spain with that terrorist attack, the Spanish people voted out the ruling part in favour of one that pledged to capitulate to the terrorists.

No it wouldn't, then you're diminishing his responsibility and trying to make excuses for his actions. He's not insane, he's not a nutter, he doesn't have mental health problems, it's time to face up to the fact that he is just an extremist who was politically motivated

I was reading that Islam is now the secnd largest faith in Norway. The kids he killed were in a group that was part of the ruling party, who had relaxed immigration and allowed a lot more Muslims into the country. But really, who knows what goes through the mind of someone like that?

I've heard that the maximum sentence he can be given is 21 years which is ridiculous, I did the maths and that's 82 days for each murder.

Yeah 21 years is ordinarily the maximum sentence in Norway although apparently they might try and charge him with crimes against humanity which would carry a 30 year sentence according to BBC news

The maximum is 21 years in Norway, but if he is considered dangerous to the public they can hold him for as long as they like. And I think he would qualify as a danger to the public...

I wouldn't mind betting he's dead within a couple of years.
