We'll that's that then.
I will say no more on the matter. |

I will say no more apart from if young members were stopped from attacking in gangs after planning it on their messages things wouldnt be so bad on here ,IMO its the young members who cause all the bother, the older ones are more street wise and maybe know better ,but the young ones dont show respect

And IMO and I see a lot more than you do, it's certainly not the younger members that cause most of the bother on this forum, the older (in age) members are far far worse. |

I have to say I can't see which posts got deleted so maybe I can't comment fairly but I personally have grown out of this "give us freedom mods garhhhh!" thing. Anyone who knew me on here years ago will know I was the most outspoken person going when it came to freedom of expression. But nowadays I'm like "look if the moderators closed or deleted something it was probably because you were all nattery and taking-the-internet-too-seriously and you could all do with shutting the **** up." It's weird. I was always held up - mostly in a positive light - as being this really volatile, argumentative person but I really don't see that in myself. Maybe before but for ages now I've felt pretty zen about the whole dealio. I see everyone else bickering at each other now. Really boring bickering, too. Nothing really entertaining to watch. Tales from Back In The Day will continue in it's same slot next week. |
is chuff, the person who spends every on-season attacking HMs for their weight, appearance and background, really preaching about respect?
|
the main problem is that there is no motivation/interest from the Admins to improve the site and there have been so many good suggestions from members in the past few years that have just been ignored.. and i'm saying spend every hour of the day adding features and **** but just at least listen to people instead of dismissing everything.

..I don’t think it’s an age thing at all that cause any conflict, people don’t respect age, they respect other people regardless of age...it’s personalities/characters, not age who may not get along but I can’t imagine there’s a forum where that wouldn’t happen, it's just inevitable ..it’s unfair and quite offensive to say ‘it’s the older ones’, ‘it’s the younger ones’....and it just isn’t true...if anyone has ‘issues’ then they have an option to ignore, but if they want to resolve anything and they can't/don't do it through PM, then having a private 'slog it out' type forum would be pointless and wouldn't make any difference at all....

If you let people have an area to really go to town and sort out their differences, I think in the end people would laugh it off and it would end up solving a lot of problems. Sweepings things under the carpet and not allowing issues to be resolved, no matter whether that takes a slanging match or not, just festers more problems than it solves because people still have issues with each other and aren't allowed to go at it to sort them out If nothing else I think it should be trialled for a couple of weeks, this idea has been suggested so many times that it may as well at least be given a go to see who is right or wrong about whether it'll work or not |
The private area idea wont work and wont be given a go no matter how much it's brought up we have been through all this before.
There has been a couple of occasions where we have took a step back and let things run there course and that never worked, reports were coming in constantly and people were blaming us asking where we were and why we never stepped in. Seriously if people want to argue with other members so much then they can go find somewhere else to do it. |
It sounds like a pig of an idea, to be honest. Sanctioning a public bloodbath forum just to satiate some nutters need to have their conflict viewed in a public space. Why would anybody even want to promote that kind of carry on, let alone the people to whom the maintenance of the site is held accountable to?
How would it work? It would take the novelty out of spontaneous arguments. Do I set up a thread saying "Hey joeysteele, I'm calling you out, bro". It's just childish. We don't even have a decent pedigree of argumentative members to make it work. It would just be unending catcalls and gifspam. |

I think the Great Argument of 2010 proved that a free for all argument doesn't make the situation any better. Whatsoever. Ha2

1) I have been infracted for things that have concerned you before, so don't assume that I haven't. Thanks 2) I know 18 isn't old but being referred to as the 'youngsters' as if we're some little bunch of yobs that terrorise TiBB and all of its lovely, respectable, squeaky clean older members during on-season is quite patronising and now that I'm writing it also quite hilarious, please stop it 3) Age is completely irrelevant when it comes to who gets into trouble on here. I could quite easily sit here and say that there's a hell of a lot of 'older' members that have caused many problems on this forum in the last few months, and I would be correct, but there have been many young, gay, female, religious, atheist, black, white people that have done the same...do you not see what I'm getting at? Age is irrelevant, so are all of these other categories. Individuals cause problems, not social groups determined by factors beyond those individuals control (age being the example here). What's next? 'Those ****ing greedy bi's on TiBB are ruining the forum with their rude attitudes'? You wouldn't get away with categorising anyone else and accusing them of causing the problem, so why is age any different? |
No Glenn, i do not find the forum depressing. i'm quite content.

Jack pretty much summed it up

Arguments would still break out on the main board, they'd just be told to go to the specified thread in a subsection or something. That way not only would the people who don't like threads going off-topic have their issues resolved with the thread getting back on track, but the people who have long standing issues with each other would at least be able to go into depth about how they feel without feeling they're going to be silenced. In the end that really doesn't resolve anything because the problem is still there, it only gets resolved (or at least people mutually agree to stay clear of each other) when people have the opportunity to say what they wish. You'd of course get members that are disagreeing about the latest Strictly elimination going in there and going 'well I hope you die you ******' but that comes with the territory  the point of it would be to try and resolve the petty, longstanding problems that certain people have with each other on here by allowing them to say what they wish, and it can only stay in that one private section (where it's not ~spoiling the forum for guest browsers), if someone drags it up again on the main board then you go all ghetto on their ass and just ban them. The current system whereby people are infracted and posts get deleted when arguments break out just means that those involved haven't really finished what they started and it's only going to start up some other time And I say all of this as someone which would probably enter this on the first day to make two lengthy posts about two members, try and resolve the issue and then never return again.
