I downloaded the first 2 episodes of the new Season earlier but haven't had a chance to
watch them yet.
I'm very hopeful though! I find Australians far more likeable than Americans on the whole (or the Americans they have on Survivor at least!).

I even enjoyed last year's Season of Survivor South Africa more than the US one. I'm gutted it wasn't on this year. :(

first 2 episodes where awesome i love how we get so much camp life and getting to know how the tribes are working early on.

no favs yet but they will come.

Samm 24-08-2016 12:09 PM

watched the second episode and I really really like this, as people have said already I like how it's not all focused on gameplay and I actually like most of the cast only know a few names though lol

Sue, Kylie, Flick, Brooke, Kat, Kirstine, Barry and Zac Efron  I think Evan and Peter are the only two i'm not so sure on

The cast was much more likeable than a normal US cast

Looking at the first two episodes I liked the first much more. It was a good facedown between the main two combatants, even though I would have liked Des to stay. Both had some focus through the episode though he had more. At the tribal we heard little from him in the edit, and that did signal to me that he was going. The men didn't seem to consider the probability of the women's alliance that much. Would have liked both to stay even, it seemed a good rivalry.

The second episode I didn't get that much. Bianca was getting built up as an interesting under cover contestant and then suddenly she's gone. Was she even the main one behind splitting Brooke and Flick or was it Kylie? I wasn't concentrating because it kind of came out of nowhere, maybe the editors could have prepared it more in episode one.

So two in a row who we've been told what their strategy is and then they've gone. Des was a bad player it seems (but funny!), yet it's nice to have someone who you can follow their stategy (at least if they have some charisma). This does happen in the US version, Russell and Tony to name just two. And in this case I can't say many members of this second ep elimination tribe look very interesting. This Conner guy was one of the underwhelming intros, in his case 'a passage to manhood' (the other weak sounding ones including a mother missing her children, and another who wants to play 'nice'). And there's another guy (seems a bit boring) who doesn't even want to be there.

PS: How did you find filming? It sounded like a looong shoot.

JL: The contestants were there for 55 days and I was on the island for 68. It was unbelievably tough. I really was not prepared for it at all! Our schedule is even tougher than the American one. They’re 39 days, we’re 55 days. They’ve got about 13 episodes, and we’ve got 26 episodes.
Mess @ 26 episodes. There'll probs be lots of filler eps with no tribals now

Des ha redemption :clap1:

DrunkerThanMoses 24-08-2016 06:00 PM

Apart for Flick, Cat and Connor I have no idea who the **** anyone else is. Way too many, they should have cut it down to 18 castaways.

MB. 24-08-2016 06:49 PM

Bad news for anyone who's planning to catch up: Ten have rescheduled it to air three times a week from next week, with an extra episode on Tuesdays (this'll just mean it'll run for fewer weeks in total, rather than them pulling an extra twelve or so episodes out of thin air... thank god)

If you only know who three of them after two episodes are then that's your fault for not paying enough attention rather than anything else :/

welp this feels like a personal attack

Jack_ 24-08-2016 06:53 PM

Anyone know how this is doing ratings wise?

It's not topping the ratings, but it's doing brilliantly among the key demographic (i.e. young people) and the network are happy with it

The three-times-a-week change is more so it can go up against the shows that are topping the ratings, which sounds a bit stupid but oh well

Only seen episode 1.

_Tom_ 26-08-2016 10:12 PM

Just got round to watching episode 2 and I'm still enjoying this! It's refreshing to have the focus on camplife and actual survival rather than the non-stop strategy/idols/challenge/scrambling/blindside we're used to from day 1 on the US version.

Sunday 21st August
The Block (Nine) 1,074,000
Australian Survivor (Ten) 784,000
"In Rio Today" Olympic coverage (Seven) 755,000

Monday 22nd August
Zumbo's Just Desserts (Seven) 1,081,000
The Block (Nine) 961,000
Australian Survivor (Ten) 734,000

As M.B. said - it's attracted a solid audience both on TV and social media (#3 trend WW, #1 trend in Aus) and the viewership among the crucial 25-54 viewer age group have been especially strong.

This especially is great and fresh for Survivor. I like how it doesn't feel as formulaic as US.

MB. 27-08-2016 10:23 PM

A reminder that this is on for the next three days(!)

Macie Lightfoot 27-08-2016 10:43 PM

eek, I watched like 20 minutes of the premiere episode but then Des's accent was Too Much for me so I quit and watched an episode of Kaoh Rong. I'll try to catch up today, only to inevitably fall behind again!

MB. 27-08-2016 10:47 PM

Yeah Des is a bit Too Much in general

Spoiler:

but he doesn't last long so make the most of the experience while you can

Welp it's only going to be on a few weeks then? Is it really doing that bad :o

Firewire 27-08-2016 10:59 PM

It's 26 episodes so should be on for another 8 weeks

Macie Lightfoot 28-08-2016 08:53 AM

okay I watched the premiere finally (just in time for three more episodes holy **** this show hates me) and I enjoyed it! I think my favorite is Nick and I don't really know why?

Also, I don't hate Conner [yet] but I am SKEPTICAL. Australian Survivor does not need a Malcolm/Spencer/Joe type of person.

MB. 28-08-2016 07:03 PM

Yeah Nick's a sweetheart but I'm worried they're going to shove him down our throats, for lack of a better phrase

Episode 3 thoughts:

Spoiler:

yaaaaaaassss at that result  Katownage  Power couple Phoebe and Rohan  Rohan nearly tanking his entire game because he didn't wear tight enough swimming trunks  Rohan immediately spoiling Phoebe's top-secret plan by going straight to yell at Evan and Lee  The fact that I don't have to change my avi out of embarrassment  I take back everything I've ever said about Aganoa (except Lee. Fuck Lee)

Other thoughts:
-this episode was hella long but I enjoyed it, mostly because we didn't get the reward challenge until about half an hour in which lol
-JLP's really settling in now, even if some of his not-quite-Probst catchphrases will never, ever be catchphrases, ever
-of all the US Survivors to significantly influence the making of this show, I expected the likes of Richard Hatch, Jonny Fairplay and Parvati, not So effing Kim
-Saanapu are probably the worst tribe of the three now, probably because a) I don't know how much longer I can take Peter's "I might quit guys :(" storyline and b) I don't want to keep checking how to spell their name each and every time
-Brooke and Tegan getting confessionals must mean the curse is broken!!!!!
-oh jesus christ can they stop personifying chickens on this show @ Tai @ Matt
-comp beasts Vavau Of All People <3
-I hope Sue-nami gets an OTTN episode next week or something because I'm getting worried :/ Still, quality over quantity and all that
-this episode could really have used some of Kate's positivity
-Krazy Kristie being a one-episode wonder </3 Somebody had better steal her flip flop or something tomorrow
-lol at there being two weeks with zero idol talk and now two weeks absolutely full of it, ah well

MB. 28-08-2016 07:11 PM

Also the Wiki page calls Aganoa "Angola" for this episode which is mildly amusing

MB. 28-08-2016 08:57 PM

Spoiler:

Oh and also also Reddit loves Evan and hates Kat, which means that we should all do the opposite

Headie 28-08-2016 09:04 PM

Did you use a torrent for episode 3?

MB. 28-08-2016 09:06 PM

Yeah, but it took about two hours to upload because it was in HD/it was double the length of the previous episode, so I'd advise you didn't do that (either stream it or use a different torrent maybe)

Headie 28-08-2016 09:17 PM

Mess how come they keep alternating long/regular episodes

DouglasS 28-08-2016 09:20 PM

Does anyone have a link they could send me please for episode 3

ep3

Spoiler:

These episodes really are long aren't they?
Why is Matt hiding the fact he named the chicken after his cat?
I need to see more of Barry and Sue!!

Glad Kat stayed

This is really making me want Survivor UK

Firewire 28-08-2016 09:30 PM

I got a 720p torrent on TPB and downloaded in 5 mins

Firewire 28-08-2016 09:30 PM
