The cinema was full, but me and my friends were the youngest there, the place was packed with groups of middle aged women(a scream), the last 15/20 minutes are phenomenal, my best friend was balling throughout - and she said she was holding back and was going to have a proper cry when she gets home :laugh2:

The final song is incredible, completes the trio of movie ballads - My Heart Will Go On, I Will Always Love You and I'll Never Love Again https://atrl.net/uploads/emoticons/jonny5.gif

Same tbh, me and my friend were the only under 50 in the cinema, I'd guess. Gags snatching the older crowd's coins :clap1:

I was hoping they'd at least have Evergreen as a nod to Barbara ..

Lady Gaga's incredible, Bradley Cooper does a very good job although his choice in how he speaks inhibits his performance I think, he's always grumbling and it's quite difficult to make out what he's saying half the time. Still it's a strong performance and I expect they'll both be nominated for an Oscar in a few months time although it'll only be Gaga that walks away with one I think.

I heard that the film was quite emotional and, for me, it really didn't become emotional until the last few minutes but when it got me, it got me.

Spoilers for the end.
Spoiler:

The film felt overly long in places but it made the weird decision to not cover Ally's reaction to Jack's suicide or the immediate aftermath and I think that robbed the film of a lot of it's emotional punch... Until the last song that is, I could legitimately hear people sobbing in the cinema.

It's a 10/10 tbh. My only criticism is that it's a bit long in the wrong places but still, it's not a huge drawback.

I agree with this. It's one of the few films I would go and watch again in the cinema.

Defintely agree with this, I found it quite hard to understand Jackson’s brother at times too, and he wasn’t even playing drunk :o

From what I’ve heard the latter part of the film happens quickly in the other films too in relation to *that* so I think it was a conscious choice.

The atmosphere in the cinema was amazing, I’ve never been in a showing before where you could here a pin drop at the credits and I guess it’s just a testament to how enthralled everyone was in the final performance

Daniel. 05-10-2018 06:32 PM

Me and Jordan are seeing this tomorrow lol

It better be WORTH

Zizu 05-10-2018 06:56 PM

If she's just singing her own songs it will just be a two hour long promotional video surely

They’re not her own songs, they are songs written specifically for the film by both Gaga and Bradley

Wizard. 05-10-2018 07:34 PM

Might go watch again for a sob

Yes, the real emotional parts of the movie are made all the more heartbreaking by the haunting chorus of LoveGame.

Y’all wanna know what makes the last scene of the film even sadder? Her best friend died the day she filmed it :bawling:

Awh so the tears were real? :bawling:

Why Did You Do That has become such a catchy bop even though in the film it represents her losing authenticity

Defintely real

Yeah, a pretty sly way of telling everyone the bops she made irl - although she likes them - probably didn’t say what she wanted to say when she debuted

So the real GaGa is moreso Joanne / Star Is Born GaGa? Tbh this is the best music she has produced with BTW coming in second I feel like she will be like an iconic ballad singer like Celine and Mariah if she continues with this I don’t know if she should go back to pop because it feels like a wasted voice.

Well not necessarily, bc she still wrote those songs, I just imagine they mean less to her (in a sense that it wasn’t really saying much) as apposed to songs like Born This Way/Edge of Glory/Million Reasons where she got to say what she wanted to say

But I defitnely agree with that, she’s up their as one of THE best vocalists of this generation

Well it was on the one I saw .. I was shocked to hear such a familiar Ga Ga song as I presumed it was a straight remake with Evergreen and the others ... maybe it wasn't an official trailer

Nicky91 06-10-2018 09:40 AM

i am #TeamBradley, i want more music from him, i can already see him perform at the grand ole opry with that wonderful country sound

Amazing review from Nadia and her husband (who are youtubers now apparently) they talk about how they went in, didn’t expect it to be much/expected it to be riddled with cliches but they found it incredible.

Nadia breaks down in tears halfway through the review talking about how important the film is and how everyone should see it

We forgot to book tickets for last night and both screenings were sold out. So we are going later instead.

Omfg that’s amazing! I thought they were from the previous movies

Shaun 06-10-2018 02:36 PM

I know she puts herself across as a cold, callous bitch but honestly I just felt some kinda way seeing Willam seem so visibly nervous on the way to the premiere:

(idk if she has a BIG part but even if it's just a couple of scenes it's a huge thing for a drag queen to get that kind of gig, so proud of her and Shangela )

Smithy 06-10-2018 02:36 PM

She has a few lines in the film Shaun and everytime she spoke people cackled, she did really well

Omg :joker:

One of my work colleagues fell asleep during the movie also.

I'm perched to see this! I've heard mixed reviews shockingly but I am on the whole excited. Will probably wait until it son Amazon though, cinemas make me uncomfortable.

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's A Star is Born got off to a flying start in its opening weekend, debuting with $42.6 million in the United States. The critically-acclaimed movie's audience was 66% female and of the overall audience 86% were 25 years of age or older.
Phew!

Initial estimations had it at $25 million opening weekend, talent really does win :clap1:

This also makes it the highest grossing opening weekend for a none Disney musical EVER!
