It's say it's more as BOTS says here, Parm... he may have been inspired to stream it and use the headcam due to modern gaming / streaming but I think it's a stretch to say that it played any part in triggering or causing the attack. He also shouted "don't forget to subscribe to Pewdiepie" on the stream. It seems more like he did all of these "extras" to gather as much attention as possible (as ultimately, that is the goal in a terrorist attack) so he utilised a lot of these things to do that. The motivation for doing it is, sadly, the ever-increasing levels of hatred and violence we're seeing towards immigrants and minorities, and the fact that it's being tolerated and even celebrated by certain sections of society. A lot of rage out there, and a lot of twisted ideologies.

i mean the guy published a whole manifesto echoing alt-right, white supremacist rhetoric but sure yeah, lets blame video games...

No, we won’t. It was done for shock value by the guy, because ‘no Country is safe’’ however he didn’t factor in that NZ wouldn’t eat into his propaganda. Many site sources of his video have been banned here (liveleak etc) and massive fines are being imposed by those who share the video. He tried to divide the country, however has done the opposite.

I opened it inadvertently as it was from an Indian friend who sends me videos of her family gatherings and such and I thought that was what it was originally as the first video she sent was the aftermath took me a few seconds to realise what it was, she never warned me what it was :nono: I haven't shared it tyvm
