Thanks for the banner James, and you must at least stay and have one drink with me.

I'm also celebrating cos Matthews Stevens has just won :dance::dance:

sweetlittlesara 01-12-2003 01:55 AM

I am here, I have just been weeping my eyes out watching "when a man loves a woman" :bawling::bawling::bawling:

Could use a drink, but i feel alcohol would not be in taste after that plus I am underage :laugh::laugh: so a coke for me

kaphc 01-12-2003 09:24 AM

A bit belated now, but congratulations on 4,000 posts Lee!!

:hello::hello::hello::hello::hello::hello:

peachy 01-12-2003 01:02 PM

Wow, Lee, 4,000 posts, what an achievement. Please don't look at my meagre total or you'll be banning me for Boris's Bar for being a lightweight.

PS. Hope the house move is still gonig ahead OK?

BusyBee 01-12-2003 01:48 PM

WOW - 4,000 POSTS

CONGRATULATIONS LEE WHAT AN ACHIEVEMENT

and to celebrate I have just delivered a selection of home made muffins for distribution at the bar to anyone who fancies a coffee this rainy afternoon. If you put them in 'Tupperware' they should keep for a while. There's blueberry, chocolate chip, cherry and lemon so something for everyone's tastes.

Off to have a long soak in the bath now to prepare myself for back to work tomorrow. Oh how I dread seeing my desk will have to call in later for something to prepare me so keep my stool warm please Boris.

BigSister 01-12-2003 05:37 PM

Sorry i wasnt in last night, went to see "Love Actually"
And congratulations on 4000 posts Lee:thumbs:

Sticks 01-12-2003 06:09 PM

LEE 01-12-2003 07:24 PM

Ooh thanks Sticks  I think I'll have one of BusyBee's Blueberry Muffins as well.

Boris 01-12-2003 07:27 PM

WOW LEE!

I am so impressed...and late too !

You may , of course , have any drink on the house, A meal of your choice and coffee with brandy to follow. ( I happen to remember that you have a liking for it)
AND....... I will NOT make you washup afterwards.

ENJOY !:spin2:

BusyBee 01-12-2003 10:12 PM

Did you enjoy Love Actually Big Sister - I loved it, but it seems to be a film you either love or hate.

Glad to see you kept my seat free Boris. Seems a bit quiet tonight - perhaps you should do a Happy Hour. Whilst I'm here I'll have a pint of Stella cos I'm feeling a bit thirsty and a packet of pork scratchings please.

LEE 02-12-2003 02:41 PM

Just popped in for a coffee and a bit of late lunch. It's very quiet in here today, still it's nice to have a bit of a rest and a peaceful read of the paper so thats fine by me

kaphc 02-12-2003 04:12 PM

Phew! Nice to come in here and have a sit down for a change.

I've had such a hectic 48 hours, which started with finding out that my 11-month old daughter has bronchitis, learned that we have exchanged contracts and are definitely moving house on the 17th December and then have been in an assessment day to recruit for a new person to replace me in my job!

So I think a good strong coffee and a bar of chocolate are in order at this point! <where's the icon for exhausted?!>:sleep:

LEE 02-12-2003 04:37 PM

Ooh congrats on the move date Kaph, you're seems to be going a little more smoothly than mine. Myself and my buyer both desperately want to move before Christmas, but the people at the bottom of the chain are digging their heals in and are saying they are not moving before January full stop.

We're still hoping to exchange this week, but I don't think I am actually going to be able to move until the New Year now - 8th Jan is the date being bandied around at present.

Still I suppose it does give me chance to do a few things to the house before I move as it is empty at the mo and I can have keys as soon as we exchange so at least I will have time to get it re-carpeted etc etc - I was looking forward to being up there for Christmas though but it is not to be.

kaphc 02-12-2003 05:19 PM

Isn't it just such a pain having to rely on other people when you're moving house?! Still 8th Jan doesn't sound too bad - new year, new house!

:wavey::wavey:

BigSister 02-12-2003 05:23 PM

Busy Bee I did enjoy Love Actually- I would go and see it again:thumbs:

:wavey::wavey:
I know, the trouble is I have budgetted down to the nth degree and it all worked perfectly up to the end of December, having it go on into January has screwed up the cashflow and its a real pain. I have absolutely NO MONEY whatsoever for christmas because of this and it's soooooo annoying.

Still, at least it is all happening this time.

BusyBee 02-12-2003 06:04 PM

It must be catching these house moving problems - the chap who has the office next door is also having problems desperate to move before Christmas but his buyer is having problems with finance so no go. He's got a little one too so they dont know what is happening for Christmas - they packed all his pressies away for the move and now it looks like they will have to get it out.

Never mind just think of all the Christmas parties we can have in Boris's which will take your mind off things. We could invite a few guests along just to make things go with a whirl. And just think of New Year's Eve in our own little bar - arent we spoilt. You'll soon forget the house move.

PS Glad you loved Love Actually Big Sister - I've already decided to get it when it comes out on DVD. I thought Bill Nighy was absolutely stonking.

BigSister 02-12-2003 07:50 PM

Busy bee i might get it on DVD as well

Boris 02-12-2003 09:56 PM

Poor LEE.

As a veteran 'mover' ( but not necesarily groover I am in my 9th house.....! ) I sypathyse with you to the Nth degree !!!

There is absolutely nothing worse than moving house and being reliant on other people.

Fingers crossed for it all to go well ASAP.

Now about that 'happy Hour'

HERE IT COMES......HO HO HO !:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

CHEERS!

BusyBee 02-12-2003 10:03 PM

And Cheers to You Boris.

Just had one of chef's specials - rather tasty. Think I'll just have a Bacardi and Coke to wash it down. First day back at work deserves a treat. All those clients expecting moi to know what has been going on when I have been in my poorly sick bed. What do they think I am psychic.

:nono::nono:

Another one please Boris - I think I might drink you dry tonight. Anyone care to join me.

Well me and Big Sister loved it blinkinlovely if that is a recommendation:hugesmile::hugesmile:

Just calling in on my way home tonight. Flipping heck its just not worth being off feeling poorly - I havent stopped since I got back - lunch hour? what's one of them.

Think I need a very large pick me up served from the lovely Boris.

Sticks 03-12-2003 06:41 PM

I think you are going to need a stiff one when you see what they are demanding on the business rate from next year.:mad:

BusyBee 03-12-2003 10:08 PM

I'm sure there's a rebate Boris can apply for however much the rates go up = after all she is offering an essential service to a very important section of society - the TIBB Barmy Army need a nice, homely, friendly bar in which to relax and where better than here. Otherwise the Town Hall may find itself the subject of an invasion of an irate section of society - after all there are still some TIBB banners around and we can make up a few more. The Army will declare war and there can be only one outcome.

We will fight them on the Town Hall steps, we will fight them in the Council Chamber, we will fight them in the streets - we will win - no-one comes between the Army and their Bar.

Oh dear I better go and sit down with a large glass of something.

BigSister 04-12-2003 04:32 PM

LOVELY, TA:dance:

Sticks 04-12-2003 11:29 PM

This morning we had a brief visit from the local chapter of Hells Angels

They were really polite and enjoyed the Caffe Lates and the new bacon egg and mushroom paninis. They said they may drop in sometime for their Winter Solstice party and asked if they could book a function room.

It seems we are getting a reputation as the only bar that doubles up as a coffee house as well

BusyBee 05-12-2003 10:56 AM

A visit from Hells Angels - who next?

Just goes to show what happens when an establishment such as Boris's Bar opens - word soon gets around.

Maybe that we will have to make it a members only Club - cant have our regulars being turned away cos its full.

Would you like some more of my muffins for morning coffees?

Will be in for my restorative glass of wine later.
