Watched Hercules as well last week. Thoroughly enjoyable. The 'Rock' is really blossoming as an actor despite knocking on a bit now in 'movie' terms.

Mean girls for the first time.

Thought it was quite good, I was surprised. 10/10

:wavey: Hi Back!

I have a nerdy/geeky comic book family, so I watch a lot of marvel/DC/comic book movies, and I am adamant this is the best one I've seen to date

Poised for the sequel

Under The Skin

It was a complete and utter disappointment, probably one of the worst films I've seen in years. Painfully pretentious yet devoid of any depth. If it was a book it would have read like this 'Scarlet Johansen does this one thing, and then she does it again and again and then she does something else. the end.' It's shallow and a complete non-event of a film.

1/10

Mokka 02-01-2015 11:41 PM

So basically exactly as the trailer advertised. I knew I had given this one the skip for a reason. Thanks for the additional warning in case I were to lose my head and try to watch this in the future

The Maze Runner-Really good but kina rushed. Events were spot on from the book. 8/10

..actually the trailers looked really good for that as well and Scarlett is such a great actress so that really must have been a disappointment...

It might just be me, maybe I missed something but I just didn't understand why the critics have gone mad for it. It just felt really shallow and ultimately pointless to me.

Yeah, I was fully expecting to love it but I just found it dull.

A Long Way Down

I read the book last year and when I heard a film was going to be made and Johnny Depp was gonna be involved I was ready to throw myself off a building. However, I watched it this morning and it was beautiful.

They definitely focused on the right parts from the book. Martins story in the book really isn't as compelling as the other three characters and I'm actually very glad he was swept to the side as a father figure. Jess is almost exactly how I imagined her and I really enjoyed both Imogen Poots performance of her and Toni Collettes performance of Maureen was so spot on. Aaron Paul is always amazing and I can't hear a bad word about him. The film does show the dark sense of humour in the book but I possibly would've liked that pushed a bit further even though it was just as heartwarming. I get why they made JJ and Jess a couple even though it doesn't happen in the book but I personally preferred how their relationship was more like siblings in the book. They did have great chemistry though as did all the cast and that's really all this film needed, a good cast with brilliant chemistry and they pretty much nailed that.

But yeah, super impressed generally. One of my favourite books was definitely done justice. 8.5/10

I tend to watch oldish movies and the best and most recent I have watched are:
Pans Labyrinth
Shawshank Redemption
30 days of night
Prometheus
Alien

Crimson Dynamo 03-01-2015 04:15 PM

Tom and Jerry Wizard of Oz

It was ace but I felt Jerry was a touch wooden in parts

The Cube (1997)
Great film that isn't very known; found it on netflix and it had a great plot and premise that was gripping from start to finish. Give it a watch- You wont regret it.

Malificent - It was ok, not gone on Angelina Jolie really, she can never play a convincing warm character imo so most of the movie suited her I guess lol 6/10

Gone Girl - I enjoyed it more than the book which is unusual 7/10
kind of spoiler :
Spoiler:

The end was crap though

Is the book ending different?

Spoiler:

I thought it was brilliant but infuriating at the same time, so annoying that she got away with everything

No, the book ending is the same

Spoiler:

It wasn't just that she got away with it (eventhough that was annoying) It just felt really unfinished to me. I didn't get any sort of closure :fist:
