I probably won't get Psycho watched till Monday

...I’m going to watch Greta this evening...I’ll hold hold off with a review for that as well in case others are watching it soon...I think it’ll be Monday for Psycho with me as well, I just have to remember to give Daniel a nudge to let him know so that he can join with that also...

Ammi 27-03-2021 09:25 PM

...I would totally recommend Greta as a watch so I’ll hold my thoughts for the moment to see if anyone else will be watching...it’s on Netflix atm...

Niamh. 27-03-2021 09:45 PM

I'm going to watch that too Ammi, maybe tomorrow

Ammi 28-03-2021 06:41 AM

...I’ll spoiler some thoughts, then...and we can have it as a watch choice here if anyone else would like to watch...I would recommend, for sure...

...Greta...

Spoiler:

....although I would recommend Greta, it does follow a ‘formula’...I mean, there’s nothing different about it as such ...it’s quite predictable...but it still keeps that suspense going and Greta is very sinister...it was obvious that Greta leaving the bag wasn’t an accidental/absent minded thing and it was designed to draw a ‘victim’ in...but it was still a wow moment when Frances opened the cupboard and saw the row of same bags...I wonder why the bags weren’t all different, why they had to be the exact same ones...I mean, if they were different then it wouldn’t have looked suspicious at all and Frances wouldn’t have thought anything of it...and Greta seemed so ‘thorough’ and meticulous in thought and planning so that didn’t make sense...for me, there were lots of screaming at the TV moments...the fact that Frances, a young vulnerable girl...wasn’t protected by the police (again, we hear that in real life so it’s infuriating...)...but the different take is that it was another female that she needed protecting from ...which gave a slightly different slant...the stupidity of the private detective going into her house alone and then the stupidity of her friend going in there alone and then revealing who she was...and then that Greta became superwoman and was able to still be such a threat when she’d been drugged in her coffee...some of it was just dumb and annoying but it was very much edge of the seat stuff as well...so a good watch overall...

Sorry I've been slacking, still haven't watched Psycho but here 2 :

The Miseducation of Cameron Post -
Spoiler:

I suppose it was interesting because I hadn't seen a lot of conversion therapy films and I like Chloe Grace Moretz. I did think there was a lot of unnecessary sex scenes and I kind of felt they were put in there for kind of gratuitous reasons (or maybe I'm just turning into a prude?) Anyway it didn't feel properly tied up for me. The 3 of them ran off to Canada but how were they going to get in without passports etc or get work with no IDs or visas at 16 years old? It was alright

Greta -
Spoiler:

This one was really creepy. The last few scenes were really tense and I was shouting at the TV for Frances to kick the **** out of her, she's an old lady fgs!! Also when she did eventually fight back, why the **** did she run into the basement of all places?? Why didn't she break a window and run??

Ammi 31-03-2021 06:27 AM

...I just realised that I hadn’t actually said my spoiler thoughts were for Greta ......so I’ve just amended that post but basically...very similar to you, Niamh...

Spoiler:

...it felt as though there wasn’t anything new as such in that it felt pretty predictable but I really liked it anyway and found myself screaming at the TV like a looney...especially the bit when Frances escaped and she was just running around the house and ughhhhh, for goodness sakes GET OUT and my OH was saying, but she can’t get out, she can’t find a key 🔑...also how was she still attacking at the end when she’d been drugged...had she used an anti thing and we didn’t see that...she was the looniest of loonies anyway and it was a very tense film....

Ammi 31-03-2021 06:34 AM

...I watched Psycho last night and...

Spoiler:

...I did really enjoy it but because I watched quite late and because (for me, I’d had a busy day of less restrictions etc and socialising and also because I wake up early etc....)...I fell asleep for the shower part...which is obviously the most iconic bit of the whole movie...it is a scene though that I find quite unnerving so maybe it was a subconscious thing as well...it’s not that it’s really gory as such, it’s more the complete vulnerability...that added thing of being naked and in the shower, her absolute and total exposure and vulnerability...

...anyways, I have seen that bit before so I can fill in that blank and I did enjoy the whole film and ‘for its time as well’, it’s an incredibly creepy movie and Norman Bates is an incredibly creepy and disturbed guy...a good recommendation, Daniel...a very good watch...

Ammi 31-03-2021 06:35 AM

...any more thoughts for the next one...?..

Ammi 31-03-2021 07:45 AM

...there’s a movie on Netflix called Eighth Grade which looks okay...

Ammi 31-03-2021 07:48 AM

...I’ll also try to find time to watch The Mauritanian after tomorrow when it’s being shown...there’s also this as well which I think will be a good watch...

Niamh. 31-03-2021 09:08 AM

I've seen that one already Ammi, it's OK ^ I'll take a look at the trailer for the Eighth grade one

Ammi 31-03-2021 12:20 PM

...I don’t know if you’ve seen this, it might be a bit upsetting../...it’s a true story...

Niamh. 31-03-2021 12:25 PM

That looks good yeah, so does Eighth Grade

...yeah I did like the look of Eighth Grade also...we can do both as they’re so different and it doesn’t matter which way round we do them...?...I’ll try to watch both over the next few days...I like a true story...

Ammi 31-03-2021 12:30 PM

...and Enya is on the soundtrack of Eighth Grade.....

...yeah that’s cool, you can’t force that sort of thing when you don’t feel the vibe because then you can just wander off in your thoughts and not give it the attention anyway...although they’re not ‘classic’ as such, I’ve really enjoyed searching out newer movies that I haven’t seen before because I’ve realised how many good ones that I’ve overlooked...

Yeah definitely, me as well. I've gone back into movies over TV Shows atm too

Ammi 01-04-2021 07:10 AM

..okay, so two completely different movies and I was so absorbed by both...

...Eighth Grade...

Spoiler:

...I loved it.....Elsie Fisher as Kayla, what a gorgeous actress and I thought that Josh Hamilton as her dad as well was perfect as the parent who so much adored her ...it was terrifying to see those ‘shooter’ drills and how every day that thought is for children to the point when it has somehow become an exciting thought...rather than having a drill, let’s have a real shooting...I mean, just horrendous ...the USA gun laws are just so screwed...I was glad in the end that she didn’t give in to removing her shirt, that she kept who she was ...but I fear that it might be different for so many also...anyway, Kayla said no, I don’t feel comfortable and that was wonderful to see...

Ammi 01-04-2021 07:19 AM

...U Want Me to Kill Him?....

Spoiler:

...wow, I hadn’t known this story at all and yet it was such a huge story apparently...there isn’t a huge amount to google other than what we saw in the movie, I think because of the ages of the boys...that little bit at the end when ‘John’ was talking to the girl and showed her his scar etc...I’m presuming that wasn’t a real bit ...I mean, the whole thing was terrifying, how Mark became part of John’s world and (...as blunt as this sounds...)...why John didn’t take his life in a more simplistic way that wouldn’t have involved it all ...but then that was the point wasn’t it ...I was just left wondering how healthy a mind he would have now but we’ll never know...and how will Mark ever trust again...what an incredible story for every wrong reason we can think...

Niamh. 01-04-2021 09:18 AM

I was really tired last night so I didn't watch any films, I'm going to put Eighth Grade on at lunchtime and I'll watch the other one tonight because Gavin would probably watch that one

...he might enjoy Eighth Grade as well, I wasn’t sure that it would be my OH’s thing but it so was....he was completely absorbed with both movies...I was tired as well actually and probably shouldn’t have binged them both but I just about managed to stay awake...(...I think......)...

Niamh. 01-04-2021 09:28 AM

Which one was better would you say?

Ammi 01-04-2021 09:35 AM

....ooooo, that’s difficult...they’re so completely different...Eighth Grade is an excellent ‘coming of age’ take, it’s so well done and for some reason it had a little ‘My Girl’ aspect to it for me...but yet, completely different as well....

...U Want Me To Kill Him?...is a true story that was apparently huge but I completely missed it and it’s fairly WOW all of the way through...it’ll really get your thoughts going about internet, I think ....

...U Want Me To Kill him, well hold you spellbound so I guess that one...but both excellent....

Niamh. 01-04-2021 09:37 AM

I'll stick to my plan so and watch Eight Grade at lunchtime and the other later because we'll probably only watch one film tonight
