He was the guy who raped Kathy in the 80s.

He was jailed for 3 years for it and apparently, according to the backstory his wife committed suicide whilst he was inside.

So now him and his three grown up children Luke, Fi and Josh blame Kathy for it all as they all believe their father's innocence.
