Id imagine the real number is double what with their lack of testing.

Still, good news as Omicron gets rid of Delta

Yes, could well be so.

i think the number of daily infections reported in america is tiny compared to the real number. They dont have access to fast testing like we have here, so the actual number could be 5 or 10 times that reported.

Even here, i reckon it will be 3 or 4 times the reported value because many people just dont want to be tracked. It's enough to know that they are positive and stay home

Yeah that's what I did tbh, positives on a lateral flow are reliable enough without really needing to do a pcr. The only benefit of doing a pcr really is that evidence of past infection is valid in most countries for a covid pass

Paris like London
lots of infections

Yeah but weren’t we told masks were effective indoors where people were close together and where the air wasn’t circulating but largely ineffective, at best, outside ?

Who says lateral flow tests are reliable ??

Mass testing may be helpful and necessary in certain circumstances if delivered to high quality, they explain, but the Innova lateral flow test is not fit for this purpose.

For example, in the Liverpool pilot study, 60% of infected symptomless people went undetected, including 33% of those with high viral loads who are at highest risk of infecting others.

Dr Muge Cevik at the University of St Andrews and colleagues argue that
outdoor transmission contributes very little to overall infection rates and
efforts should focus on reducing indoor transmission.

No confirmed sizeable covid-19 clusters or “superspreader” events have been
outdoors-only, they say. While the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota or the Rose
Garden outbreak at the White House are frequently cited as evidence for
outdoor-only superspreading events, these events had sustained and multi-
day indoor components. For instance, epidemiological investigation of Sturgis
Rally found cases linked to restaurants and workplaces.

Given the low risk of transmission outdoors, recommendations or mandates
for outdoor masking may seem arbitrary, affecting people’s trust and
sustained energy to engage in higher yield interventions, such as indoor
mask use or staying home if sick, they write.

What’s more, an outdoor mask requirement “might serve as a disincentive to be outdoors, which could worsen social isolation.”

but they don't tend to show positive if you are negative, so they are not as inaccurate as you are implying

What i mean is, if they show positive you are very rarely negative

Yeah this is it, you might get a false negative especially at the start of infection but it's incredibly unlikely that a positive is false especially if you're getting them multiple times

Because of Staff
off sick due to Covid
Southern railways are not back until of Jan 10th 2022

All Media

[Others blasted Southern as the
'worst run train service in the country',
said the firm is 'chronically understaffed' and
tweeted: 'Happy New Year from Southern - impossible to get to work,
so will have to use annual leave.']

Maybe the management should contact all staff and tell them to halve the isolation period and that will get the trains back running?
