Didier Drogba demands Chelsea outmuscle Arsenal and Spurs to snap up Patrick Vieira

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has urged Carlo Ancelotti to sign Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira in January.

Arsenal and Tottenham both offered the Inter Milan midfielder a return to north London in the summer before the France international opted to stay at the San Siro.

But Vieira is well down the pecking order under former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho and the 33-year-old, who watched the Blues beat Liverpool on Sunday, will consider a move in order to play first-team football ahead of the World Cup.

Chelsea have been banned from signing any players during the next two transfer windows and will lose John Mikel Obi and Michael Essien from their midfield during the Africa Cup of Nations.

The club has appealed against their suspension and Drogba wants his manager to move for ex-Arsenal skipper Vieira if it is upheld.

He told The Sun: 'It would be a good move for Chelsea to bring Patrick in. Don't forget we are going to miss several players in January, particularly in midfield, because of the African Nations Cup.

'We played against Vieira last summer and he was very strong.'

we don't need him to be honest he could come in handy for games agaisn't chelsea and liverpool and other big teams but i think are midfield is great

30stone 07-10-2009 09:08 AM

Yeah but Song leaving for Africa cup nations.

30stone 07-10-2009 09:23 AM

Wonder who else we will get..

setanta 07-10-2009 09:46 AM

Viera is a good addition to any squad, irrespective of his age or declining powers. The only midfielder who could come close to Keane.... hee hee.

another centre back maybe

30stone 07-10-2009 10:00 AM

Better than keane due to his height :wavey:

And yeah wenger said a centre back will be a added, a young one though i think. Around 20 years old.

setanta 07-10-2009 10:01 AM

Don't go there 30stone. Keane owned him everytime they played against each other. Intimidated the f$ck outta him.

30stone 07-10-2009 10:07 AM

Yeah he intimidated him.

As he was rough as **** and fouled constantly and had a hot head.

But viera was stronger, just as fast and better in the air...

setanta 07-10-2009 10:21 AM

Oh you're so wrong my darling lol. Viera was good but Keane was in a different league.

30stone 07-10-2009 10:23 AM

No way.
Keane was good but he was a thug.

Viera was class.

Novo 07-10-2009 10:24 AM

Keane was a great player So is Viera

but keane in his prime was immense

Viera **** himself when Keane had a go at him in the Tunnel going back a few years ago now
