Jo set to return to City after Everton loan
1 hour ago LIVERPOOL (AFP) — Brazil striker Jo will return to Manchester City at the end of the season after Everton admitted they cannot afford to sign him on a permanent basis. City paid 18 million pounds to sign Jo from CSKA Moscow last year but he struggled to make an impact at Eastlands and was loaned out to Everton in January. He made a better impression with David Moyes' team and scored five goals in 13 games to lift the Toffees into fifth place in the Premier League with one game to go. However, Moyes knows City will expect to recoup a large chunk of the fee they paid for Jo if they are to let him go, and that puts him out of Everton's price range. "I don't see where we could even come close to getting the money they spent on him," Moyes told Everton's official website. "But a loan has not been put to us or spoken about at all yet. "It's something that, at the moment, we've not had any indication that they would have interest in. Obviously that means he will go back to Manchester City." |
Carragher will break Shitty Keane's leg tomorrow. Hope Hyypia starts.

Krisztian Nemeth has been in good form to help Liverpool Reserves reach the semi-finals of the prestigious Terborg U20 tournament in Holland.
The Hungarian striker has scored vital goals against Gremio and PSV Eindhoven to set up a last four clash with talented Brazilian outfit Atletico Mineiro. The tournament is unusual in that it includes club sides and international teams. Matches are played on a 20 minutes each way basis and two teams in each group go through to the semi-finals. In their opening game Gary Ablett's side beat Lucas Leiva's former club Gremio 2-0 with Nemeth and Mikel San Jose on target. They lost 1-0 to Ajax in their second game before drawing 0-0 with Egypt. Nemeth then scored a penalty and Gerardo Bruna added a superb free-kick to see off PSV Eindhoven 2-0. Ablett's side meet Atletico Mineiro in Sunday's semi-final and the winners will meet Ajax or Australia in the final. "We have done quite well and there has been some pleasing performances," Ablett told Liverpoolfc.tv. "It will be a good test for us to play the Brazilian team and hopefully we can give a good account of ourselves." |
Xabi Alonso has described Sami Hyypia as the "perfect example" to other footballers ahead of the evergreen defender's Liverpool send-off against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
The big Finn will part company with the Reds this summer after agreeing to join German club Bayer Leverkusen on a two-year deal. Alonso admits he will be sad to see the 35-year-old leave Anfield, but is understanding of Hyypia's decision to move to pastures new. "I understand why Sami is leaving," Alonso told LFC Magazine. "Sami has got a competitive mind. He wants to be involved and be part of the first XI wherever he is. He will probably have more chance of playing regularly at Bayer Leverkusen. "Saying that, I could have seen him remaining with us too. But it is his decision and we have to respect it. "As long as he is happy with his decision I am happy for him." Hyypia took the Spain international under his wing when the midfielder moved to Liverpool from Real Sociedad in 2004, with the duo often rooming together on away trips. Therefore, Alonso has firsthand experience of why the centre-back is so revered both on and off the pitch at Anfield. "I was Sami's room-mate for my first four years at Liverpool," said the Reds' number 14. "He has been a good performer on the pitch and also off it. His attitude is always to be totally respectful and honest with everyone. I like this way. "He has been a great player, a great person and a great servant to the club. "Sami has been the perfect example and also a fantastic Liverpool player. Because of that, all the players here have a great affection for him. His attitude and honesty have always stood out. "He is always in a good mood around the place. Sami is the model professional and will be remembered for years by the fans, players and staff alike." Alonso is confident Hyypia will be a big success in the Bundesliga, adding: "Whenever he has played this season he has done very well. "Whenever he was needed he was there. His level of performance has always been very good. That is what you can expect from a model professional, as Sami is. "I can see him playing very well in Germany. I'm sure he will do very well there. We will have to keep an eye on Bayern Leverkusen's results next season." |

You might have thought with all the romours around that arsenal will begin there premiership campaign next year on - points would make arsene wenger do something about it but no he is still on the look out for new talent across the globe. Arsenal fans are getting sick of wenger wasting money on players who can't cut it. One arsenal fan said this " Get him out!!! Get the clueless frog out!!!
