below is the furthest the met office provide for non paying customers (ie the general public) and its all hedged bets and general stuff ---- UK Outlook for Saturday 4 Feb 2017 to Saturday 18 Feb 2017: Into the start of February, confidence in the forecast reduces, however the most likely scenario is for a continuation of the unsettled weather with wet and windy spells interspersed with brighter and showery interludes. This will bring gales at times, especially in the north-west and temperatures will be close to or slightly above normal for the time of year. From the second week of February there is an increased likelihood for high pressure to return, bringing more settled weather with lighter winds and a return of overnight frost and fog. As a result, temperatures may become colder at times although the chance of very cold weather developing is considered to be low. |
Thank you for replying.

we have about an inch of wet snow.
80 mph winds in wales in usual coastal exposed places and 80mph in west Ireland Highest i have seen is 94 mph in Capel Curig in Wales but they are used to wild weather http://www.xcweather.co.uk/30m/GB/w1487840916.gif |
It's annoying that the BBC don't show wind speeds on their maps, just arrows.
I was trying to find out how strong the wind would be here, earlier. Apparently lighter winds here. |

"winds of 80 mph to batter britain, 80 mph winds have brought down trees and blocked roads bla bla bla when the reality is they mean that coastal unihhabited areas have recorded 80mph gusts, 2 trees came down and 2 roads have been blocked For every other person in the UK the winds are around 40-50mph in gusts http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ is a good way to monitor actual observed wind speeds |
I was supposed to be going to London this morning... but condisering Greater Anglia's track record with weather I decided to postpone. Only mildly windy here at the moment though.
|
