Atonement

Spoiler:

Ugh that was heartbreaking [emoji24] how awful for Robbie and Cecilia but you kind of felt bad for Briony too, she was a child and was clearly very confused and thought she was right and had to live a life of guilt afterwards. I know it was that creep the chocolate guy too

Spoiler:

...it’s such a down movie, it’s difficult to say that a re-watch was an enjoyable experience as such...it’s just a very, very tragic story ...not just for Cecelia and Robbie but also for Briony who survived the war to a much older age and had to live with her misunderstanding for her whole life...

...I read the book many years ago, before the movie, obviously....and I hadn’t known of Saoirse at the time as an actress...Atonement was the very first movie I saw her in and became aware of her, I think...it’s an obvious Irish name but she had a perfect English accent and so perfectly cast...accents were obviously something she excelled at as a child as well, I would say...James and Kiera, also very well cast.....

She was excellent in it, didn't she get an Oscar nomination for that as best supporting actress? Great achievement for someone so young

...yeah, I’d forgotten that as well, that she was nominated for her portrayal of Briony...she was in Lovely Bones as well and although she’s always delightful, that wasn’t a film that really worked for me and translated well from the book...

...I probably won’t get a chance to watch Death Becomes Her until tomorrow and that’ll be depending on how many Pointless responses I have to look at ...but I will get to it as soon as I’m able to...

Ammi 11-04-2021 07:54 AM

...oh yeah...

Spoiler:

...it was obvious that it was Benedict Cumberbatch/Mr Chocolate/hideous creep...

Death Becomes Her

Spoiler:

Much needed light relief after watching a few pretty depressing films  Actually we had just watched The Father before I put this on and that one is so depressing, very good but sad, (Ammi I think you will like this one it's got Anthony Hopkins in it and it's about Dementia)

Anyway back to Death Becomes Her  It was what it was a bit stupid but hilarious and I love Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn

Ammi 12-04-2021 09:54 AM

.....yeah those were my thoughts that it would be a little lighter movie, they all just seemed to be having so much fun and it’s always gorgeous to see Meryl in lighter roles...I will try to get time to watch it later but I have some Pointless stuff to go through and I will watch The Father at some point...

Classic movie , I've seen it a few times :joker: .

Ammi 13-04-2021 05:06 PM

...I still haven’t had time to watch it but I have seen it two or three times ...it is such a fun movie, GoldHeart.....

...I actually got around to watching Death Becomes Her last night......I’m fine to carry on with it, the first round of Pointless was always going to be difficult but hopefully it’ll go more quickly as the rounds go on...(hopefully...)...but I probably won’t get much time to look at which movies are showing atm and if you have any suggestions or anyone else has...?....but whichever really...I’m fine to carry on and I’m fine to take a break...

Ammi 14-04-2021 06:15 AM

...Death Becomes Her...

Spoiler:

...it’s such a weirdly fun movie and Goldie and Meryl are magnificent......there’s not really much to say about it, maybe it provokes a little serious thought of would we personally take the potion or not...would we have those 10 yrs....but yeah, it is what it is, it’s fun and just so OTT horrific as well.......

Also how weird is it that Bruce Willis is in it, people usually think of him in Die hard . But he's so different in Death Becomes Her. .

Spoiler:

Ernest lived a happier full life without taking the potion , he knew he couldn't live forever. Yeah I think realistically most people wouldn't want to take it .

The funny thing is Hawn & Streep's characters were miserable as hell in the future, they're stuck together for eternity . And the ending was grim and hilarious:joker: . They don't have anyone to put them back together anymore.

Definitely a moral to the story ,of greed and selfishness not getting you anywhere.

Also how funny and strange that Bruce Willis is in it , people usually think of him in Die hard. But he's so different in Death Becomes Her LOL.

Niamh. 14-04-2021 10:21 AM

Yeah, the opposite to an action hero Goldheart

Ammi 14-04-2021 11:28 AM

...the movie starts off being a bit annoying, like an awful episode of Jerry Springer...that they became enemies because he was weak etc....

Ammi 14-04-2021 11:28 AM

...have you seen Lincoln Lawyer btw...?...

Niamh. 14-04-2021 11:36 AM

Yeah, it's very good

Ammi 14-04-2021 11:38 AM

...Murder by Numbers...?...(...I’m just looking at the screen now and going through them...)...I’ve seen both of them but Murder by Numbers, I only vaguely recall...

Niamh. 14-04-2021 11:39 AM

Yeah I've seen that too a couple of times i think

Niamh. 14-04-2021 11:44 AM

The Game was one you mentioned before, I have seen it before but it was years ago and I barely remember it

Ammi 14-04-2021 11:45 AM

...reasonable reviews for Sixty Six, People Places Things and Murder on the Homefront...?...

...let me get some vids for them...

Niamh. 14-04-2021 11:45 AM

Don't think I saw any of those
