So what's happened with VAR this time? I don't watch so fill me in with what's happened?

Blatant onside given as offside, but hey who cares it was Liverpool at the receiving end for once

Liverpool have vowed to "explore the range of options available" after claiming sporting integrity was undermined after Luis Diaz's goal was ruled out against Tottenham for what the PGMOL described as "significant human error".

its not going to happen if the decision is over turned the TiBB prediction game will descend into chaos

My dream is for all football fans to protest by staying away from games until VAR is removed. If they did then they would also have more money in their pockets to spend on having a good Christmas for themselves and maybe an extra holiday abroad.

VAR isn't the problem. The officials are.

Alf 01-10-2023 09:40 PM

Rugby League was the first sport to bring in the video referee, back in the mid nineties. It works OK in that sport. It does have the odd error but they're rare.

The video ref just can't work in football and needs to be removed immediately. VAR seems to have caused more problems in the time it's been in then all the years it wasn't. That works in Rugby league but it doesn't in football.

The fact that paying spectators can't even celebrate a goal now until some video decision has happened is just lunacy.

What have they turned the beautiful game into?

Corrupt officials spent 3 and a half minutes yesterday trying to find a reason to disallow your goal.

Was it given?

In the end, yes. but they were looking at ways to disallow it. No one should need nearly 4 mins to check VAR.

It's ridiculous. They need to go back to human error, because at least people can accept that for what it is, let the referee, referee. This VAR is just spoiling the game.

I agree we can accept human error but not people being able to look at it again and again on a screen but still get it wrong....ridiculous...that said it was Liverpool so :laugh:

If at first you don't succeed...

Mystic Mock 01-10-2023 10:53 PM

I feel like we need Football to not be having huge mistakes happening at all during matches.

Don't forget before VAR existed there was the Hand Of God and the Chelsea vs Barcelona 2009 Champions League match, plus a myriad of other horrible decisions that were costing teams potential success.

It's always been the officials that are the issue because they end up being one of three things.

And that's either:
1. Corrupt
2. Incompetent
3. Both

Yeah, but "Hand of God" we got over by bedtime. And that was a World Cup quater final. We were more in ore of Diego's second goal and probably blamed our defending on that and Lineker missing that open goal header just as much as Maradona's first goal. We quickly got over it and it became iconic because the media played it up. You won't find many English people from that time who doesn't call Maradona "the greatest of all time"

I agree !!

We should just keep goal line technology

Seriously though I actually think that this incident is momentous !!

Just imagine if that was the last day of the season and Liverpool were playing for the title … a simple apology would not suffice then and it can’t suffice now either

I feel they will give Liverpool a point or replay the game

If that happens I can see Liverpool resigning from the league and joining Celtic and Rangers or moving to the French league

It’s both surely

I’m sure I saw something suggesting we use different VAR technology to everyone else

This is a very interesting/important point

We have ripped the heart out of our game .. it will get to the point where nobody will celebrate a goal .. then after the goal check the scorer will maybe raise his arm walking back to the centre circle and a few fans will cheer …

There were some strange decisions including this one ..

They were going for a header and the foul went against Robertson who was booked even though his eyes were firmly fixed on the ball and the Spurs guy was clearly gonna go for Robertson !!https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6b541770c6.jpg

Zizu, Robertson is no angel, he dishes it out as much as the next bloke.

He is committed but they always say the guy looking at the player not the ball is at fault

There’s also this little snippet

The guy who cocked up had reffed a match in UAE days before.

Not suggesting they were compromised but rather they might have been jetlagged. Either way with the non penalty call against Man U vs Wolves and this disallowed goal for offside, it's two massive decisions VAR got wrong

In that case they need to replay all the games where VAR has been incorrect, do you agree?
