Back safe and sound.

That coward Doris didn't even show her face, she knew that she'd meet her match with me.

For every other person in the UK the winds are around 40-50mph in gusts

http://www.xcweather.co.uk/ is a good way to monitor actual observed wind speeds

Something else that irritates me about TV weather forecasts is how they don't show pressure levels anymore.

LT is it possible for a storm to come from the east? Or is there not enough sea for it to deepen?

On the northern hemisphere depressions spin anticlockwise generally moving west to east and form during unstable Atlantic airflow from the jet stream that blows west to east. Lows can form on the European continent and move towards us but it will never have the energy that the Atlantic gives. Hurricanes in the Northern hemisphere however go east to west just to fck things up a bit

It's horribly hot in London today (and has been over the past few days). Thankfully from tomorrow it looks as though it's going to be some degrees cooler. :flutter:

Look at this shocking pic of the floods in Texas, a care home got hit

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-41070237

A record 30in of rain (75cm) has fallen on the city in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, turning roads into rivers.

So London gets around 585mm per year and Houston has had 750mm from this storm! By the end of the week it is estimated to have received its entire annual rainfall (around 1250mm) it is mental

an average rainy day where it rains all day you might get 25mm in the UK
