Sorry this is a day late but here's a bit of a detailed report of my trip to SD.
They only had the lower bowl open, the seats around the hard cameras weren't even tarped over until like 5 minutes til showtime.
The opening dark match was Mojo vs Aiden, Aiden still had the Vaudevillians titanitron and heel theme. Aiden didn't cut a promo but did sing during a resthold. Mojo won with about 3 minutes to showtime.
Nakamura Ziggler promo was pretty decent
Styles was pretty over, Corbin vs Styles was pretty good. My section was hot all night (I had a floor seat, left side of ramp on TV), We chanted stupid stuff or one line zingers all night, probably the most smarkiest section of the arena. I tried getting a Baron's Balding chant going but while a few people around me laughed, it didn't get going. But throughout the night we got a yell a "Ten" chant every time there wass a two count. More on this later.
The crowd was dead for Colons vs Alpha, I like the Colons titanitron though.
Orton was super over and the No DQ match was fun. I couldn't see the Table bump from my seat and I had to crane my head all the way up to see the spot on the titanitron. Hell most of the match was around the table. I actually really needed to pee and missed like a minute of Mahal's promo, which I totally forgot about and I didn't see him take the title. Nice to see Bollywood Boyz do well though (They're now called the Singh brothers on the Website now)
Didn't really expect Breezdango to win the title shot. Didn't even expect to see the Superkick into a Falcon's Arrow finisher coming. There's a little fun fact about Breezdango winning the title shot, They actually initially formed on SD in the same city during that Golddust/Fandango vs R-Truth/Breeze match.
Naomi's entrance is actually pretty great in person, the arena isn't as dark as you think it is however. I think they use a filter or something. Great Main Event, The heels ran in from the announcer's area
They had like 20 guys working on the ring for the switchover to 205 Live, They get done pretty quickly, the Pyro is LOUD by the way. There was a noticeable amount of people that left after SD ended but not a huge swath of people left.
Swann/Tozawa vs Kendrick/Daivari was a decent opener but I don't remember really anything from it because people who don't usually watch the network kept asking me when are Nakamura and Ziggler coming back out for the main event.
Ali vs Nese was pretty decent. Ali was surprisingly over for a middle american crowd, his swanton off the top post to the floor on Gulak got a great reaction. (Nese won by DQ when Gulak pulled him out of the ring...for some reason, that's why Ali attacked Gulak after)
Neville vs Jack was pretty fun too. This is where my section comes back into play, throughout the night, after every two count we would yell Ten in reference to Dillinger (who didn't show up at all but I saw him at a NXT house show last year). This would eventually get to Neville as he climbed on the top rope and told us to shut up.
Shortly after that I said he looked like an elf and everyone lost it around me. It was perfectly timed. Dunno if that made it on TV. After he won, he looked at our section with disgust and we were chanting Ten right in his face.
Nakamura vs Ziggler was a great dark match but we kept chanting for Mike Chioda during downtime and you could see Chioda was trying not to laugh. There was a couple of funny antics but Ziggler lost when he tried doing Sweet Chin Music, Nakamura countered with a signature and then won with a Kinsasha. Greg, the ring announcer was having fun by this point and joined in with the crowd behind the announcer's desk, for the dark match the crowd was doing some sort of Rock On thing. Wasn't a Too Sweet chant.
Next Friday I have my first indy show, Pro Wrestling Revolver: Pleads The Fifth (Cinco De Mayo Supershow). Plethora of indy guys from all over are on the card. People from as far as England are coming to Iowa for it. (It's on Highspots and they sell DVDs as well, the shows typically are put on Highspots the next day and the DVDs typically are sent out two weeks after, the venue is a small rock theatre/arena)
They've had to make alot of changes (Del Rio was supposed to face Elgin in the main event but pulled out for unspecified reasons, then Eddie Edwards was but had to pull out due to injury and so Davey Richards is taking his place) but the card looks great. I'm nervous and excited for the show at the same time.
