Dreams Get Rid of Emotional Arousal

It has been agreed for some time that dreams deal with emotion. However, not all emotion causes dreaming. Only emotional arousal unexpressed while awake causes us to dream. So, for example, if you have a screaming row with your partner you are unlikely to dream about it as the emotional arousal was allowed full expression. However if you become angry with someone at work but cannot express it then this frustration will probably be played out during dreaming.

(This gives us an indication why dreams and hypnosis are interlinked.)
How Do Dreams Work?

The brain will 'flush out' emotional arousal by creating a dream of a scenario that parallels the real-life experience - a metaphor. So, the work colleague from above might be symbolised by a monster and your anger would be allowed expression as you attacked the dream creature.

If you ruminate angrily over the same issues the next day then you may well have a repetitive dream as the brain solves the same problem in the same way.
Apparently

Yes,Deja Vu is a very hard subject to talk about as its hard to explain.

Doogle 07-01-2012 02:17 AM

I don't know if I buy that.

When I was 4 I dreamt I went to IKEA with the Teletubbies, no joke.

That is nothing to do with me holding back emotions in real life. I just had the two things on my mind probably. I think we just dream as our minds mix all our thoughts together from the day and several dreams come from that.

The term "déjà vu" (French for "already seen", also called paramnesia) describes the experience of feeling that one has witnessed or experienced a new situation previously. The term was coined by a French psychic researcher, Émile Boirac (1851–1917) in his book L'Avenir des sciences psychiques (The Future of Psychic Sciences), which expanded upon an essay he wrote while an undergraduate French concentrator at the University of Chicago. The experience of déjà vu is usually accompanied by a compelling sense of familiarity, and also a sense of "eerieness", "strangeness", or "weirdness". The "previous" experience is most frequently attributed to a dream, although in some cases there is a firm sense that the experience "genuinely happened" in the past. Déjà vu has been described as "Remembering the future."
This just give me chills

I have déjà vu all the time. I dream things then they happen.

-is psychic-

Doogle 07-01-2012 02:22 AM

I reckon we could all be a bit psychic too but we can't prove it.

Deja vu is weird, I wonder if anyone called it anything before Émile Boirac called it déjà vu.

Ramsay 07-01-2012 02:22 AM

I think they we are constantly repeating our lives..like we die then we are born as ourselves and live our live over and over again and deja vu is like we remember stuff that has already happened to us..i thought of that baked as **** when i was like 14 so it probably makes no sense to you guys lol

Mystic Mock 07-01-2012 02:22 AM

We havent just got a God on the forum (Ukturtle) we also have a Psychic on the forum.

Doogle 07-01-2012 02:24 AM

Karl that does make sense but that sort of depresses me. It feels like I'm not making choices in life and I'm being controlled like a sim and I've tricked myself into thinking I control my actions. And the thought of living the same life over and over is horrible.

Ramsay 07-01-2012 02:25 AM

I found this ages ago and made a thread about it and its really good if you read all of it

Well one of my friends from school thinks that after we die we get reborn as different people.

I would hate both theories though.

I sort of believe the theory that we are born as a different person after but I really hate it, you kill yourself and you have to come back again no matter what. Even if your life is wonderful and you don't realise you're constantly living different lives it's a horrible thought to me. I want to just die and have an afterlife. Perhaps we do exist but in 2 worlds as someone said earlier on. Our dream world which we live in permanently once we die, and earth when we aren't sleeping.

Or maybe we dont exist and when we die we end up in whatever we believed in. Afterlife, heaven, etc.

Glenn. 07-01-2012 02:31 AM

Its an interesting idea. Being re-born as someone else, and I can remember a show years ago, where a little boy claimed he was another person in another life.
He dreamt about a white house on the coast and it actually existed, and family members who could be accounted for with records. It was weird.

Not actually the same as what I saw on TV but its the same sort of thing.

It sounds interesting but I dont think we are all the same person.:joker:

Doogle 07-01-2012 02:38 AM

Karl that thing you posted is amazing but I didn't like the sound of being everyone and in reality there only being 2 people. And I know it is available in loads of languages but what language is God speaking to me in? My mother tongue before I died? And why would God tell me this then rather than the other 1000000 times I've died. Unless of course he/she tells me every single time. I prefer the thought of here being more than 2 people though.

Ramsay 07-01-2012 02:40 AM
