I thought Cheryl was a better judge than Dannii. Dannii is more likable and supportive but asking a current street-wise artist who loved rap to sing a ballad was a crazy comment and made Dannii sound prehistoric.

Cheryl may not have won last year, but he selection of artists last year, I thought, was better than the other judges. And her comments were bob on.

The only thing Cheryl did wrong was be arse licked by Simon and thats hardly her fault?

Oh and send Gambu home.....

cub 28-05-2011 03:16 PM

Gamu was a novelty act. I liked her, but I couldn't see her having a record career.

In your opinion. I think she also arselicked him. Yeah he had his tongue more firmly on her backside, but it wasnt all one sided. I just dont like her as a judge, and its a bit of a joke to judge people singing live... and then go on the same show and mime yourself.

Simon was by FAR the worst judge last year though. And thats something I usually reserve for Louis :D

Ammi 28-05-2011 03:37 PM

I agree that they were as bad as each other arselicking and that Simon was the worse judge and thats why I hope Cheryl will be better without him if she returns to the show this year. I found all that 'I agree with everything you say' crap from them both too distracting last year.

cub 28-05-2011 05:10 PM

I don't prescribe to the idea that you should be able to sing yourself in order to judge others. Dannii is considered to be a good judge but, as much as I like her, she ain't all that - talent wise.

Cheryl's value as a judge is that she's been through the process less than ten years ago and she is abreast with current trends in music.

Cheryl is probably the most qualified of all XF judges. She's most in touch with the core audience. She's a relevant artist currently having hits. She's been through this process herself and can relate from both sides. Simon and Louis are middle aged business men(with a middle aged womans taste in music) and thats exactly what they see it as...a business opportunity. Cheryl has no investment in them moneywise so for her it really is just about whether she likes them.

We can all give opinions about how good somebody is and nobody is more right than anybody else so really you don't need to be any kind of expert. The voters have the final say anyways. Its not like any judge on any talent show is always right and chooses the right songs always. They all make big mistakes because ultimately it comes down to one persons tastes against anothers.

Well said.

We will all have opinions on the new X Factor acts (Remember? They have contestants too - it's not all about judges!) and most of us can't hold a note. I want the right to say someone is good or crap without someone questioning my credentials. The judges are no different and why should they be.

Because they are paid to judge...and we are not?

Clearly each have the capability (in different ways) to have that type of professional opinion. I would question the credibility of Emma Bunton judging skating, but not Cheryl Cole critiqung singing even though her own voice is quite weak. She's been through the process so therefore she knows.

She probably doesn't care. She never needs to work again.

Really she needs to reform her band and celebrate their 10th anniversary next year.

Daily mail update

ITV offer £2m to woo Cheryl Cole back to the X Factor UK

Last updated at 1:21 AM on 29th May 2011

Cheryl Cole has been told the door is still open for her to return to the British X Factor – but she must make her decision today. ITV is said to be willing to double the singer’s usual £1.2 million pay packet if she comes back for the next series, but she is said to be unsure of taking the offer given her humiliation on the American version.
Cheryl is understood to be begging Simon Cowell to issue a statement saying she wasn’t sacked from the Fox show – but left because she had a ‘bigger and better’ offer to return home. Fox has yet to make an official announcement about Cheryl, but one source said: ‘Simon is working on a statement which will essentially deny Cheryl was sacked, but instead say she was offered a better opportunity in the UK. It will hopefully save Cheryl’s reputation and pave the way for her to come back to the British X Factor.’ A source close to the singer added: ‘Cheryl is deeply humiliated and she wants Simon to make it clear that she wasn’t sacked, but was needed back in Britain. 'It’s a face-saving measure and it’s very important to Cheryl.’ The Girls Aloud singer, who has been holed up in her London flat with her mother Joan since she returned from Los Angeles, is said to be ‘close to breaking point’ over her treatment in the States. ‘She is feeling very fragile and very emotional about everything,’ said one friend. ‘Her confidence has been massively dented and her friends are genuinely worried for her. 'She is talking about taking some time out, but Simon is trying to convince her to sign up to prove she can do this job.
‘He’s told her she can come back to America and work on her image next year and that this is by no means the end of her in the States.’

Another source said: ‘They have offered to double Cheryl’s pay packet in the UK and Simon is trying to convince her to take this opportunity. ‘The truth is that Cheryl is in a major sulk and she may turn the offer down. ‘At the moment it’s a possibility, no one knows what she’s going to do, but the feeling is that if she turns down X Factor in the UK it really would be career suicide.’ ITV has put contracts with other potential panellists on ice while she makes her decision. But Cheryl – who will reportedly receive her full £1.2 million fee from the American show despite leaving after just four days – must make a decision on the UK version this weekend, as auditions start in Birmingham on Wednesday.

Currently Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Kelly Rowland and N-Dubz singer Tulisa Contostavlos are reported to be on the judging panel. But last night a source close to Tulisa said she had yet to sign up, adding: ‘She’s not at all confirmed. It all depends on what Cheryl does.’

Why on earth should she get any increase in her salary to return to the UK X Factor, that's ridiculous and if it happens and she does return with a greatly increased salary it will show her up for the selfish spoiled madam she really is.

The UK X Factor line up was sorted, I am still not happy that Dannii is not there but one thing should be certain, there is no place for Ms Cole.

cub 29-05-2011 09:51 AM

I'd rather Cheryl cames back than the NDubs girl, but I can't see it at this point. I think Cheryl is history at this moment.

happybbfan 29-05-2011 11:53 AM

She is getting paid far too much anyway,no to an increase.Who is she? Who does she think she is? Go back to singing and stay well away from BB on C5.

It's over! Cheryl Cole refuses £2.5m offer to return to UK X Factor by snubbing Cowell's calls before her deadline

Cheryl Cole 'got US X Factor sack for rejecting Grammys to eat biscuits'

Quote:

A Fox TV executive has said Cheryl Cole's 'negative demeanour' while filming US X Factor, which included skipping the Grammy Awards to sit in her hotel room eating biscuits, was among the reasons behind her being sacked as a judge.

The Grammy awards were like 2 months ago. :S

Matt 04-06-2011 10:48 PM

Appears now that this has all been a massive publicity stunt as tomorrow's Sunday Mirror and News Of The World claim that Cheryl will 'return' to the X Factor USA judging panel.

EDIT: Thread for new developments here: http://www.thisisbigbrother.com/foru...d.php?t=176975

cub 06-06-2011 11:34 AM

I don't think it was a publicity stunt. It looks as though Cheryl was demanding her fee even if she was dropped. Therefore they've offered her job back in the hopes she will still be too upset to return. If she then chooses to leave they won't have to pay her, as this becomes her choice. Clever.

So, unless she's really hardfaced or needs the 1.5 million they're not obliged to pay it.

It's a mess.
