He explained: "This is not found footage. This is not archival footage. This is an illusion and this is just the beginning. Dre has a massive vision for this."

I'm hearing that Em helped with the motion capture.

Funny if you imagine him doing the walk etc :p

Samuel. 17-04-2012 01:37 PM

They should do a hologram of Em of when he was still amazing :idc:

Have to say, I think the technology is awesome, but I just don't see the need for this at all. It seems a complete gimmick.

It just adds to the cult of dead rappers that exists.

If a loved one was deceased, and someone offered me the chance to project a hologram of them into my living room, I'd say no thanks, that would be weird.

As a one-off Dre should leave it at that, he's better than dragging round a hologram as the main focus of his show.

I think it's because he never got to do the big festivals (like someone said previously). I would have loved to see Tupac in concert and maybe this way I kind of get to do that you know....

Yeah, I'm not knocking it. Just to me, it seems weird. There are loads of heroes that we never get to see in the flesh, and if the Em doing motion capture thing is true, then you're actually seeing Em moving to tupacs tunes, which doesn't sound half as appealing.

I personally think it's just a money making ploy taking advantage of people that want Tupac. However, if the people that are being targeted by this gimmick are happy with it, then that's the main thing. I was never a huge Tupac fan, so I wouldn't see him in concert if he was alive to day, but I guess I can appreciate the attachment that some people might see.

It does open the floodgates for a load of mediocrity to come flooding back.

Brother Leon 17-04-2012 02:53 PM

I just hope this doesn't happen with everyone now.

Some sites saying it cost 5-10m to do. Others say 600k.

You know it will. If record companies can make money from it, expect to see practically everyone who's ever been famous to go on a hologram tour.

Look at how the movie industry has flooded the cinemas with films that have already been made. This will be the same thing.

Technology gets cheaper and cheaper, so it may be expensive now, but in 5 years, every idiot and their dog will be using it.

Brother Leon 17-04-2012 03:03 PM

Though, if they done this for Big L it would be epic.

He hasn't got as big an appeal as Pac and Biggie though.

Surprised Dre didn't do it for Eazy E instead though.

Roy Mars III 17-04-2012 03:05 PM

It cost about 100k atleast

Tupac is still alive — or at least rap mogul Suge Knight thinks so.

Days after Tupac Shakur appeared in hologram form at a California concert, Knight suggested the rapper might just be in hiding.

“Nobody seen Tupac dead,” Knight told Los Angeles radio station 93.5 KDAY on Friday.

“Maybe the question is . . . Pac’s not really dead . . . Pac’s somewhere else.”

Knight was with Tupac when he was slain in a hail of bullets in Las Vegas in 1996. His killer has never been found.

Tupac was resurrected at the Coachella Music Festival on Sunday, performing via a high-definition 3-D holographic projection system.
