I've been a vegetarian for over 5 years because the concept of eating flesh is just weird to me personally. Also I feel bad for the animals because I'm hypersensitive LOL.

I used to shove my opinions in peoples faces when I started as a vegetarian but then realised it's just how the way the world works. There's no stopping supply and demand.

I don't really agree with PETA and don't like the extremism, but one thing they're great at is nailing the point home. For example with that vid, it will probably stay with me for life

Stay on topic please.

I had a mate who used to go absolutely mental at me for eating meat when she was there. I mean, it wasnt like I did it on purpose, she generally turned up when I was making my tea, and Im hardly going to chuck the meat away just because shes there.

Then one time she turned up at like 3pm on a sunday when I was making dinner for my family who were coming over later on...and started whinging on about the house smelling of beef, so I kicked her out and told her to go **** herself with carrot if she loves veggies so much...after this she stopped being such a bitch about me eating meat.

Good times.

Here's an example of complete hypocrisy.

A girl is know is a strict veggie: but eats animal by products, but still doesn't believe in killing animals for us to survive.

She however buys packets of all the cheap packaged meats - you know, like the buy 3 for £2 offers of cold ham, turkey, chicken etc - all the crap stuff................. to feed to her animals.

why keep animals that rely on meat as part of their diet then - the same meat that she refuses to eat due to the unnecesary killing of said animal....when the animals meat is still being used to feed her own animals.?

Beggars belief that one. And I know quite a few that do the same thing - though they aren't quite as rigid -it's more 'just their own choice in how they personally eat', rather than from an animal rights pov.

Vicky. 02-10-2011 02:58 PM

Can you get vegetarian pet food?

Then again, I think its unfair to deny animals something they clearly love just because of your beliefs.

No idea tbh. I simply don't get the thought process behind it... don't kill animals for food,.... but when it comes to me feeding my animals, who need meat, ... ach well I'll still purchase the scraps and crap from the animal that was intially killed for human consumption in the first place.

It's completely mental.

For me it was my son that gave me the initiative, he had done a project on the subject in school which involved a lot of research. I discovered things that I found distasteful and my son got a little upset about it and announced he wanted to go vegetarian. Being an animal lover myself I decided we would both go for it. I missed meat at first, but its a lot easier now. Don't get me wrong, I still get tempted but have so far managed to resist, and it helps that I love veggies and salad. Anyone want to share their experiences?

I'm a veggie too, although I do eat eggs,my reason was I love animals and saw a documentry on slaughter houses and the transport of animals,it turned my stomach, don't miss meat at all as I love quorn and that can be used instead,I also love salads and veggies, but that 'smell' of bacon cooking is always tempting:xyxwave:

I don't eat meat either Kazanne, but am not a vegetarian. I think of myself as having a meat phobia as I don't like the texture of it, I don't like bananas or mushrooms either for the same reason. There's no moral reasons behind it whatsoever and I cook meat for my family all the time.

Good girl, you don't want them sneaking off to MacDonalds when you're not looking.........

Pyramid* 02-10-2011 03:30 PM

Now I'd say that Ammi and Kazanne have a healthy (in ever sense of the word) attitude to being vegetarian.
