Was only the other day that someone from 5 was praising Big Brohter for increasing their revenue or something. I can see it being kept on after this year

Oh that is brilliant, to be honest, it's BB13 I'm worried about, as long as that gets good ratings as well, I think they'd renew for 2 years.

daniel-lewis-1985 06-01-2012 07:36 PM

I miss the days when BB was massive and we didnt have to worry about it being renewed for another series.

Lets ****ing savour it

Mystic Mock 06-01-2012 07:41 PM

We need the Housemates to rise to the occasion.

Very true. Last night when I saw tweets like 'these are not even real celebs, big brother is sh*te' I was thinking 'THEN DON'T FUC*ING WATCH SOMETHING THAT YOU DISLIKE!! LEAVE BIG BROTHER TO BE WATCHED BY PEOPLE WHO LIKE BIG BROTHER!'. I especially get irritated by comments such as 'Big Brother is the worst show on TV, needs to be cancelled now'. I dislike Emmerdale, does that mean it deserves to be off the air?

I know!

Whenever i read a story on The sun online or something below the article is full of people saying "Who watches this garbage" "This **** needs to be cancelled already".

If you dontlike BB then why would you even go into an article about bb?

Baffles me.

One word, TROLL. They're pathetic, I dislike TOWIE and Geordie Shore, I wouldn't comment about it though, I just ignore it.

Indeed

Yeah, DS say :

Quote:

Celebrity Big Brother 2012 made a modest start on Thursday night, the latest overnight data indicates.

Only 3.46m (15.8%) watched the likes of Frankie Cocozza, Natalie Cassidy and Kirk Norcross enter the house from 9pm, a significant fall of 1.7m on last summer's series.
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s150/...-with-35m.html

Guardian say :

Quote:

The two-hour launch show had a 15.9% share of the audience between 9pm and 11pm on Thursday but it was some way down on the 5.1 million who watched the debut of last year's series on Channel 5, the first since it was dumped by Channel 4.

Ratings for last year's series settled down around the 2 million mark, bouncing back to almost 2.9 million for its final, won by Big Fat Gypsy Wedding star Paddy Doherty.

Channel 5 will be hoping for a similar return for its new series, although with the launch audience around a third down on last year's opener, it may prove a tough ask. The broadcaster will also being hoping that viewers are not suffering from Big Brother fatigue after three series in less than six months.

Friday 6th January Overnights
Channel 5 (inc +1)
20:00- World's Toughest Trucker: 1.25m (5.1%)
21:00- Celebrity Big Brother: 2.61m (10.6%)
* peak: 3.03m (12.3%)
22:00- Celebrity Wedding Planner: 1.02m (5.2%)
23:00- Celebrity Big Brother's Bit on the Side: 668k (5.2%)

That's a 74% retention of the launch rating, CBB's best second-night retention on record (i.e. smallest ever drop). Last summer's CBB8 second episode retained a smaller 62% of the launch audience. So a possibility now that if the next few days hold pretty steady, the gap will close between CBB9 and CBB8

Your looking at about 2.5 without +1

Jake. 07-01-2012 10:23 AM

And if it carries on this kind of path (the 2-2.5 million mark) we should pretty much get the same as last year, which isn't a failure nor a triumph

Me. I Am Salman 07-01-2012 10:33 AM

That's fantastic!!

Jake. 07-01-2012 10:34 AM

Last night most were predicting in the 1 million to 1.5 million range!

Black Dagger 07-01-2012 11:57 AM

That is great news, I reckon tonight it'll drop, saturday shows always do poorly, then it'll perform well again in the week.

daniel-lewis-1985 07-01-2012 12:49 PM

Good news but remember the episode after the launch allways gets higher then the rest and finally settles on about day 4 at a lower rating.

Last years first 2 episodes both got over 3 million then dropped to 2.5 where roughly it stayed for the rest of the series.

I do have a feeling this series can redeem itself though.

If it can average 2.8 million like last year then it will be another success.

daniel-lewis-1985 07-01-2012 01:29 PM

Digital spy are reporting BB got 2.4?

Channel 5's World's Toughest Trucker drove off with 1.18m (4.8%) at 8pm before the highlights of the Celebrity Big Brother launch night summoned 2.44m (9.9%). Celebrity Wedding Planner followed with 936k (4.8%) and Celebrity Big Brother's Bit On The Side entertained 619k (4.8%).

Agree with you Daniel, I think they're mugging us off as someone rightly said in the comments!

That is without +1. The 2.61m is +1, and by the way, I think that rating of 170,000 is Ch5+1 biggest rating so far.
