For example my ex (only bf ever) lured me into a sense of security he was lovely and everything then cheated and I didn't sleep with him or anything ever in our whole relationship so it wasn't a quick rushed relationship but yeah it has out me off for life; yeah I know some guys are nice but I never ever want to be so dependent to a person again and be someone's. I'm happy being alone

Do you not understand though the roles could easily be reversed?

Lots of people think they'll be happier alone, but then they get older and grow up.

No offense to you but what age are you? 16/17? Believe me when I was that age I had no intentions of settling down either, the first guy I stayed with for more than a couple of months was when I was 21.

And that b/f who cheated on you, I doubt he intentionally lured you into feeling secure just so he could hurt you like that, teenagers are impulsive and don't often think through consequences or how their actions might damage other people. I don't mean that to sound patronizing, it's just I was a teenager once and it's amazing how differently you'll probably feel about things like this in a few years time

Oh of course! I said that earlier, girls are often a lot worse!

That's a really good post, Niamh.

You missed off this smilie though :pat:

Joke. That's actually a reasonable way to explain it.

Munchkins 04-02-2013 02:43 PM

I was just supporting the point that often you can't see that a relationship was bad until you are out if it, I wasn't trying to villify men more :p

..Munchkins, when I was very young a boyfriend cheated on me with my best friend..they ended up getting married, which was the best revenge I could have got as typically they cheated on each other as well and the marriage broke up...I met the love of my life shortly after, so it was a pretty good deal all round...

..sometimes things are just meant to be and all your ex has done is reveal something about himself, which is no reflection on any other guy you may meet....

I think it's less patronising than my attempt at saying the same thing.

I don't really have much to say on this topic other than it's individuals, not gender, that determines someone's behaviour in regards to relationships.

One thing that really bugs me though is how men are lauded as 'legends' if they sleep around, but if a girl does the same thing they're a 'slag'. Either everyone that does it is a slag, or no one is, and I'd opt for the latter. Sexual promiscuity shouldn't be looked down upon, it's the business of nobody's but their own and so long as they aren't hurting people in the process, I honestly don't see why people care so much. Bandying about derogatory terms for people that choose to do a lot of something they enjoy is just petty if you ask me, and it's like we're living in the past. If you wouldn't do it yourself, that's fine, but don't judge other people for it because at the end of the day, it's nothing to do with you. Live and let live and all that.

Ammii, you give the best posts honestly :) and yeah hopefully i will meet a nice guy eventually, but i'm just not allowing myself to focus on that and allow it to control my life
Niamh your advice too was great, and i do agree, i am only young, and so my views will not be final yet
Jesus, well your posts are always sort of patronising so :p
