#67: Pendulum - Slam (September 2005) Long before Patrick got his hands onto Pendulum they had their debut album 'Hold Your Colour' and this song was the first major success they saw from it, although not their first single. This marked the slow rise of Drum and Bass. |
#66: Fall Out Boy - Sugar, We're Going Down (January 2006) Hardcore FOB fans hate this song as it saw the band burst into the mainstream area, but they can get over it, it's a great song. Reaching #8 in the UK it was their first top ten hit and probably their best song so far. |
#65: N.E.R.D. - Rockstar (November 2002) Placing at #15 in the charts back in 2002 this fared better than their debut single and this song was widely used on adverts and computer games, usually the Jason Nevins remix. |
#64: Adele - Hometown Glory (October 2007) As far as debut singles go, this has to be up there with one of the greatest. The story behind it also strengthens its greatness, it's the first song she ever wrote and she wrote it in ten minutes. |
#63: Nneka - Heartbeat (September 2008) Her first song to enter the charts in most countries, largely thanks to the remix by Chase and Status her mix of hip/hop and soul didn't go unnoticed and she looked to do well. However she seems to have faded into the distance again. |
#62: Booka Shade - In White Rooms (June 2006) The German house duo have given a few good tunes over the last few years but this one tops the list. Released in the summer of 2006 it did very well across Europe. |
#61: Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros - Home (January 2010) What is not to love about this? The second single form their album 'Up From Below' this song made sure that people knew who they were. |
all of these 60s
|
I was legit going to do a 200 favourite songs (ever) thread  now I'll look like I'm copying you and Stu
|
#60: Avril Lavigne - I'm With You (November 2002) The third single from her debut Album 'Let Go' peaked at #7 in 2002 but has had various reappearances back in the top 100 over the last 11 years. At the time, and still to this day people believe that this should have been her debut single, not 'Complicated'. |

#59: Crystal Castles - Untrust Us (March 2008) Taken from their debut album this song along with 'Alice Practice' grew in popularity online well before they had even become a proper official band and helped destine them to the world of music greatness. |
(also you reminded me to do an avril toptens next ty)
Untrust Us  (same video as Avril's though LOL) [nvm you edited] |
#58: Mel C ft Lisa Lopes - Never Be The Same Again (March 2000) Okay, she's an ex Spice Girl, but she could actually sing and had talent and this song all things aside was pretty darn good. Taken from her debut album, this showed why she was the superior Spice. |
:worship:
Northern Star and I Turn to You :worship: |
#57: Azealia Banks - 212 (December 2011) This song took the clubs wordwide by storm when it was released. Unlike most artists this song gave her a lot of potential to be the next big thing, alas, she ****ed it all up for herself. |
-has no more praise left for this song, I think I've used it all up -
|
212

#56: Electric 6 - Danger! High Voltage! (January 2003) This song was so close to being #1, **** you David Sneddon. Although the band have vanished into obscurity they had a few big hits back in the day, this being the biggest. |
#55: The Streets - Has It Come To This? (April 2001) The debut for the band and a big leap forward for pushing forward the Garage genre. This song was by far one of their best and tbh the album 'Original Pirate Material' as als one of the best albums from the 00's. |
#54: Lady GaGa & Beyonce - Telephone (January 2010) What do you get when two of the biggest females of pop join forces? An amazing track is what. You can hate and criticise either artist but this is just pure excellence in terms of pop. |
#53: KoЯn - Here to Stay (June 2002) Okay it's no Freak On A Leash, but it's still an amazing effort from the Nu metal band, released from their 5th album it remains their highest lacing chart entry at #12. |
telephone is pretty generic I think
