It was my second time too and hit me way worse than the first. Hope you are feeling better too.

I feel like I always have the sniffles

Jessica. 18-01-2025 07:34 AM

Had the sniffles for a couple of weeks and now I've woken up today with a full on cold. :bawling:

The baby was very unsettled at bed time and then woke up at 11pm last night with a very uncomfortable stuffy nose, we're both having the same symptoms now. We always end up being sick at the same time which is exhausting.

…yeah, you will be exhausted if you’re not feeling at your best and neither is he, you’re obviously very in tune with each other…I hope that it’s a fleeting virus and passes through quickly ……I think that we just don’t have such great immune as we did pre-covid because of being so isolated…

It's hard because I'm constantly worried about him catching an illness because I know I'll catch it too. If I was well then it wouldn't be so hard to nurse him back to health. I hope it passes quickly too, we've only got about three weeks to prepare for a big first birthday bonanza! Covid definitely gave my immune system a knock, I had it when o was pregnant and I was bedridden for about two weeks, horrible illness.

Sounds more like covid

…try not to worry about the birthday celebration, it will be lovely when it’s be lovely…the main thing you need and want is a healthy you and him so just focus on rest for both of you atm and that road to feeling well again…lots of hydration and lots of sleep, sleep is the best healer……

You are under a lot of pressure when you and the baby are ill
And when they are young they pick up some thing new weekly
Hope you have some one to give you a break even if it’s a couple of hours just to sleep

Yeah, I'm trying to take it easy, thank you!

I can get a break but baby is very attached to me, especially when ill, so I'm not setting my heart on it. :joker:

Trust me you should take advantage of having a break and its good for the baby too in the long to get comfortable around others

My son has got some lurgy....very unusual as he is never ill. He has high temp but is freezing, headache and says his head feels too heavy. I've banished him to his room and dosed him up. Hoping he bounces back quickly and it's not a ploy to get out of cleaning his room

Thank you both.

It's so unlike him but I know he is ill as he hasn't picked up his phone or the PlayStation. I don't know what to do with myself....I'm getting on his nerves asking him if he's feeling better. I can't actually remember the last time he was poorly.

Bless him

…he’ll be right soon, hopefully…if he doesn’t very often contract these viruses then he probably has a good immune for fighting…hydration and rest/sleep are the best medication for him right now, I think…

There are some nasty bugs going around country-wide. Me, wife and youngest were all very (very) ill for about 10 days over Christmas, tbh I'm still feeling slightly wiped from it nearly 3 weeks later, and my eldest was ill last week - dunno if it was unrelated or the same bug cycling round, she avoided it at Christmas somehow. Aches, pains, headaches and chills were big features - my wife suffered most with the chills, I was hit with the headaches and brain-fog.

But yeah there are a few flu strains and other viruses going around, health services were under quite a bit of strain in early January.

Indeed and remember "chin to chest" (pain in the back of the neck when trying to do this is a concern) and any light sensitivity - although that can also be just the plain ol' headache.

Niamh. 19-01-2025 08:29 AM

Just starting a cold I think, my throat is sore this morning and I have a cough waa

Livia 19-01-2025 12:08 PM

I've had a niggley cold since Christmas, haven't really been ill since covid. I have no energy at all. Mum and Dad have the kids and I'm tucked up on the sofa with a blanket getting ready for tea and toast and to watch the old classic Ghost Train in the telly. So it's not all bad...

Gusto Brunt 19-01-2025 12:25 PM

Not had cold or flu for EIGHT YEARS.

Didn't get Covid either, and I won't be having the flu vaccine.

Don't trust them.

Gusto Brunt 19-01-2025 12:39 PM

But get well soon to all those with cold or flu. :)

You might have gotten symptom-less covid, I would never have known I had covid only I tested myself when my husband got it and I was positive too, he was really sick with it, I had no symptoms at all
