Its not arguing Matthew - we are just discussing things. This has been a fairly balanced thread and I can see both sides. Personally I don't think raising the age limit will do much unless every member has to provide id when they sign up - like FB the younger ones will just put a fake date of birth in. At least with the way things are at the moment we have an idea of ages of members so you can be aware of the content you address to them if you know they are younger (but to be fair I'm sure they hear worse irl than on here, I know I did and that was back in the dark ages)

but why should it be 13? It's a bit random. BB is inappropriate for 13 y.olds so a site about BB should be not appropriate.

oh, i just thought my disagreement with Parminion was getting a little heated.

I just don’t see a reason for raising the age limit except for it being an excuse to get rid of the swear filter, which mods have frequently said exists because it “cheapens the forum.”

I think age limits are always pretty arbitrary, ours might be 13 but I don't think we actually have any members that age anymore. We could raise it but the reality is it would be difficult to enforce, people have always avoided age limits and if anyone purposely seeks out a BB forum to post in then I don't think they will be so naive that this place could single handedly corrupt their innocence. Also while not many members now are under 16 there are a lot of long standing members on here who started posting when they were 14 or 15 because rightly or wrongly BB always did have a lot of viewers that age

younger people in particular like reality tv, if they want to discuss it here is a good place to do so.

I dont believe I do it often, (I wont say never, someone will find something I’m sure :joker:) doesnt bother me much at all though.

But it puts the adults in a really awkward and uneasy position when they know they could be discussing all sorts of sex things..with god knows who..

Its a public forum anyway, a toddler could read through it, they’re just not allowed to sign up. Dont see what raising that age would do for a public forum.
