IMO they should stop producing the celebrity series altogether, none in January and None in Summer. Have a year where they focus all their attention and budget on the civilian series

They would do the complete opposite given the chance

People saying X Factor hasn't fallen much...bull.

X Factor has lost more audience since 2011 then BB has since 2011 (I'm using that year as it was the year it moved to c5).

We are taking about 15m in 2010 to around 5m in 2017.

If we compare the 2010 series of BB (last one on C4) getting 2.8m and the latest series in 2018 getting 1.9m. That's a what 30-35% drop from a slightly bigger channel to a smaller one whereas the drop from X Factor across the same channel in the same time was 66%?

And Bb12 to BB18... 1.6m vs 1.2m. A 25% drop. Before bb18 the drop was nothing. . 1.6m vs 1.6m

Yepp lol

2010 vs 2017 lets say, 7 years difference...

X Factor 2010- 17.71m
X Factor 2017- 5.83m

But for a fairer overview... CBB/BB has dropped and then risen every now and then whereas X Factor has dropped every single series since 2010. So if the same thing happens for 2018, i think it may be the last, if it polls another similar drop year and year we'd be looking at around 5.5m official for the series (around 4m weekly overnights) which just won't cut it surely with around 4.5m final official and a final in the 3s overnight!!

I personally think BB will be slightly up on BB18 because it will most likely NOT face LI or the World Cup as it's starting later.

If we see any improvement in ratings for this series it will be because they've actually put in an effort for once... Not competing with other programing is just the icing on the cake...

Here’s how all the ‘big’ shows compare in ratings growth and decline since 2010. Big Brothers change is almost insignificant. It’s by far been the most consistent show in the past 7 years, especially considering it moved channels in 2010 and 2011 (and CBB still lost less viewers in that period than any other show)

Very interesting super! Thank you!! To note 2017s X Factor isn't factored in here and it dropped 1m from 2016 so the graph would have dipped more.

I’m a celeb’s retention is insane

Why is IAC 2015 viewers so low compared to other years when it's the best one

*mazedsalv** 01-06-2018 02:36 PM

Mad to think usually BB would be starting pretty much next week. But I kind of like they are keeping it to themselves. I expect a late August launch when both World Cup and LI are finished.. it wouldn't need to compete with them or Wimbeldon like it has done in the past.

It would be good if they had the money (and the courage) to promote during LI's final. They surely can't go wrong with a potential 1m-2m audience (however well it does this year).
