Exactly.

okay you say he could have gone in the last 100 years and now say his finances are irrelevant

I will mention that to BA next time I want to travel first class to Barbados, I am sure they will just let me on the plane

Tom4784 02-02-2021 02:17 PM

If this was anyone else, there would be a lack of sympathy given that he likely got it by travelling abroad for a holiday. I don't wish him ill, but I struggle to sympathise with anyone who gets covid when they travel abroad for non-essential reasons.

No being funny but why is everyone making this dusty old man out to be some kind of hero when he literally just walked around his garden??

You left out the part where he raised £30m for NHS Charities.

Don't understand why people are claiming he caught it in Barbados when he caught it a month later.

Travel was allowed along as you keep to the laws and restrictions in each country something he did but the young social media influences refused to do

The Slim Reaper 02-02-2021 02:43 PM

He risked it all to chase that Barbadian brown sugar. Nothing but respect for my homie, Tom.

It’s simple really, you are not allowed to visit any one who has Covid, the only time you are allowed is when they can do no more or they know you are not going to make it.

As to being a hundred or more, not all people are the same and some can be in remarkably good health compared to people half their age.

AnnieK 02-02-2021 03:16 PM

Sad news....achieved a lot in his life from fighting for our freedom in the world war to raising millions for the NHS during this covid war.... RiP

Tom4784 02-02-2021 03:20 PM

Sad news, I might not be too sympathetic to how he got it, if the Barbados stuff is true, but that doesn't change the fact that it's sad.

At least he led a full life and made a difference with his time.

Crimson Dynamo 02-02-2021 03:23 PM

A gentleman and a British hero

RIP

Funeral is today RIP

joeysteele 27-02-2021 08:14 AM

Bless him.
His attitude was one of the most endearing things about him too.

He had an incredible last year of his life and in a few ways, he helped bring some relief and inspiration to others in theirs.

A sad day, however from the 1940s to the last year of his life.
Quite a gift to the World was Sir Captain Tom.

Sadness and pride from his family and many people, at and wishing they could be at his funeral, will I think and should be in abundance today.
