Well, she wouldn't. Someone who isn't white will always get more hatred then someone who is because the white person won't have to deal with racism.

It's just kind of a basic thing really. If Meghan was white, she wouldn't get racist hate. Common sense, really.

Yes, as pointed out there, Meghan was welcomed with open arms and millions watched the wedding and celebrated with them, racism didn't come into it for the huge majoirty. It was later when they started 'wagging their finger' at us and preaching and lecturing us while being hypocritical and attention seeking that the public turned against them.
But some will just bang on about racism and what they call 'hate' for no reason regardless, its their lifeline, they don't have anything else.

So you agree that racism is a part of it then?

People seem to forget how popular Meghan was when she became engaged to Harry....how so many tuned in to the wedding.
It just justifies their behaviour has changed the public perception...nothing to do with her skin colour.

I only bring up race in issues of racism, why are you being so defensive? Why are you reacting so angrily to issues of race being brought up? It makes no sense to get this wound up about an issue being mentioned. You should consider why that is the case.

I like how you threw a fit about me apparently twisting Rustic's words and then, not a few sentences later, you're twisting my words to make out that I'm saying you can't dislike a black person without being racist. Some self awareness never hurt anyone, Swan.

Bringing up issues of racism is fine, absolutely fine, but it doesn't always need to be discussed on every single topic that happens to include someone black/mixed raced/brown/asian etc. It doesn't actually help the fight against racism in general. It's counter progressive to assume people and the press are against Megan because of her race, it doesn't help the argument, it weakens it. The press may have been against Megan (for good reason imo) but that doesn't mean it has anything to do with her race. The press tear a part plenty of white people, if it sells, they'll sell it, simple as that.

Megan and Harry's behaviour has been questionable to say the least. It's all up for debate and criticism. Some seem to have a problem with this, and brand others against Hollywood's hottest couple 'haters'. Well would that make those for them 'lovers'? It works both ways. As for you saying im angry, throwing a fit, defensive? Well you do this all the time, it doesn't bother me it amuses me. It's an easy and cheap way to try and dis-credit any opinion, debate or argument on given subject. And it's kinda ironic in the sense that you're probably the most aggressive poster on this forum. **** blah blah blah ****** etc etc etc ****** white supremacists ****** racism ***** Trumps dick *****. You get the gist.

It's just irrational no matter how you cut it. If someone dislike someone regardless of what they do and do 'research' (reading gossip rags) to fuel that hatred then that is irrational hatred. They're looking for reasons to hate on that person and will twist any situation to make them look bad. To say it isn't is just ignoring the reality of the situation.

This forum isn't full of Meghan fans, most of us are simply perturbed by the level of hate this woman gets and feel the need to counteract that. We could all go on with our lives and not care otherwise can the people in this world who hate her say the same?

And defending some of their behaviour would in turn make those people megan lovers, it's swings and roundabouts. You can dislike someone without hating. I really have no idea why this ever became questioned? Is it all just love and hate, no in between?? Ridiculous.

As everyone knows, there were a few obviously racist comments reported, which somehow has translated, for some, to 'there is a racist element to everyone who doesn't like Meghan'. She was welcomed by the majority initially, so racism was not the big issue it is made out to be to beat people with.
Character and actions are everything, skin colour is irrelevant.

Ammi 29-09-2020 04:18 PM

...to be fair, there was criticism of some wedding choices as well and the breaking of ‘tradition’ .and Meghan’s ‘bloodline’ was referred to in derogatory ways before they married... choosing a gospel choir for their service was one of those criticisms but it wasn’t the only one...they tried to do things their way, in how their decisions reflected them, which is what we all do in life..but the criticisms kept on coming through appearances and things apparently done wrong by Meghan or she wore the wrong outfit or whatever....she couldn’t really win for losing tbh...so they have done it their way and got out of our hair and off the Royal table...and they still can’t do right for doing wrong...

Ammi 29-09-2020 04:21 PM

...if people experience racism, I would doubt that it would always be the outright and obvious...Racist comments are not a one size fits all and have to be outrightly blatant...

The only thing im against is how much the wedding cost, her dress etc. That being said, im the same when it comes to every royal, i would never single them out it that sense, they're all as bad as it each other. As for the press, they use key triggering words and sentences all the time like that, it's sad but true. I bet the majority of people who watched the wedding never even thought of 'tradition' until they read some of the rubbish the press spout. It's all to stir up some faux outrage and get people debating, it helps sell their rags.

But it's how you interpret some of the comments made. You said "wrong side of the tracks" "tradition" "bloodline" none of them suggest racism to me? "bloodline" could but i think it's more to do with her being American, non upper class etc.

I wasn't around for it, but didn't Fergie get absolutely destroyed by the press for being 'a bit rough around edges'?

So, you're telling me that none of the hatred Meghan gets is at all racially motivated? Really? You're gonna try and push that angle? The fact that you, a white person, also then tried to make out racism doesn't have to be discussed around in every subject featuring a non-white person is laughable. Racism doesn't affect you, but it certainly affects non-white people and a lot of this post comes across as you simply being tired of the discussion of racism which you should be glad you have that luxury. Non-white people can't be 'bored' of the discussion of it because they live it.

Discussion is good, not liking them is good but the level of hate they get is irrational and I truly don't think you'd be making the same argument if the situation was reversed and I was the one obsessively hating on Meghan. I think your tune would change then. The level of hatred they get is just not healthy, people hate them in the royal family, they hate them when they leave, they hate them for 'scrounging' they hate them for daring to get a job... It's insane.

I don't discredit opposing views, I argue against them. I don't need to make someone to discredit them, I just prefer to straight up argue why they are wrong. You're confusing me with others by saying that I rely on discrediting people when I make more efforts to write good arguments against opposing viewpoints. Also your last line on this subject is confusing, you find me to aggressive when speaking about white supremacists? Do you want me to treat someone who thinks of black people as subhuman with respect? Grim.

As for the weird 'Megan lovers' line. You're pushing false equivalency there. Defending someone against irrational hatred (IE, finding a reason to hate on a woman regardless of what she does) is not the same as being some sort of obssessed fan. Thinking someone is not worthy of hate is not the same as dishing out hatred on the regular.

As for your post to Jet, I'm gonna give you a tip, if you want to pull off a little gotcha moment by using someone's words against them, context is very important. If the context isn't there then your little attempt at a gotcha falls to pieces. Remember that next time, and you're welcome

...the wrong side of the tracks wasn’t a stand alone, comment...her ‘exotic blood’ was also referred to so it’s the whole context, Swan...and why I said it as ‘bloodline’...I’m sure that Fergie and other Royal brides have had criticism and some will have had criticism quite plentiful...but I can’t recall any to have had undercurrents of racism or more blatant racism attached as well...which obviously when Archie was born, extended out to him also, more or less from birth...I really understand why they felt ...enough... when it was extending to their child...

racism is a much bigger issue in the USA than it is here ... and where did they go?

First of all, if you read my posts back, you'll see i said a small minority will be against her because of her race. Racist people come in all forms, bigots will be against any one different from them. By default some will be against her because of her skin colour. Just like some people are against gay people, trans people, even christians, muslims and so on. People based on race will always be discriminated against, even white people are (not on the same scale, granted). The fact that you, a white person, seem to know more about how racism works than me, a white person doesn't make any sense. What qualifies you more than me, considering we're both white males?

No Dezzy, a white supremacist is in the same boat as a black supremacist, a religious person who believes woman are a lesser species, and person who believes gay people should be killed. All scum. Being angry about that is fine/understandable. I think it's more your 'every trump supporter is racist and white supremacist' argument which i don't think is true, but that's a different subject all together.

No, in YOUR opinion they're wrong, just because you don't agree, doesn't make others opinions 'wrong' Dezzy. That's a terrible trait to have.

I know the Megan 'lovers' term is ridiculous, as is Megan haters. No point going over that, again.

And also, thanks for the advice i'll bare that in mind :hee:
