That is misinformation

Admittedly, shooting someone for pointing a replica gun at people is more than a little excessive.

But someone getting killed in the crossfire between the police and her boyfriend being spun as "shot in bed" is quite a leap. I mean ... it happened at night, so that's kind of the same as being in bed :joker:

Going for a kill shot when he hadn't fired at anyone? No.

Taser, rugby tackle, knee-capping? Fair response when someone is brandishing a replica gun. What's not a fair response is failing to even give him a chance to drop it.

The police have ridiculous funding and most of it goes on weapons and equipment they don't really need. People really need to understand that 'defund the police' doesn't mean what they want it to mean. If they put some of those funds towards training, people wouldn't want them defunded. The US police has ridiculous budgets and most of it is mishandled.

If the phrase can be so easily misunderstood, it's ineffective - especially if it can be willfully misinterpreted.

Anything can be wilfully misinterpreted by people who want to misinterpret it. People choosing to be ignorant is not the fault of others who are making a valid argument, silly logic.

Depends really; how often do people who use the phrase "toxic masculinity" have to explain that it means "a toxic brand of masculinity" rather than saying all masculinity is toxic...

Saying "defund the police" makes it sound like people want ... the police to be defunded. If they think the money should be used for training rather than weapons, there should be a better phrase.

And you have a lot of faith in the American police if you think that being given less money means they won't cut the training even more, rather than cutting the amount of weapons they buy.

Which is why people want to defund the police in the first place.

I can't really think of many, if any, occasions where all maculinity is branded toxic. Most of the times it's aptly used to denounce attitudes like the idea that men can't be emotional or that they can't speak about their problems or be vulnerable or that men have to act a certain way to be seen as 'manly'.

Defunding The Police
is Against President Biden wishes

So why even debate it?
