From what I heard they had 2 options today or tomorrow but UEFA pushed for it to be immediately restarted

They should have opted for tomorrow. If that is the case though UEFA did Denmark dirty big time.

no, cuz Finland is scheduled to travel onwards to russia the next day

they really had no other options

…he’s still stable, I hope he makes a full recovery…just some incredible life saving medical care, well done to everyone…as awful as it is for his family, they have that knowledge that his care was excellence from the beginning and I would think, a huge factor in his stable condition right now …

Cherie 13-06-2021 07:07 AM

Congrats on the win Caldy, great to see Finland at the Euros

bots 13-06-2021 07:31 AM

it seems crazy, but if he was going to have a heart event, it was the best possible place to have it, with top class medical care able to treat him in seconds

AnnieK 13-06-2021 07:37 AM

So pleased he seems to be stable now. As BOTs said, at least their were professionals on stand by and he got the best care for the moment he went down. Awful for his family to watch it play out live across the world but if he recovers well, hopefully that trauma will not be remembered.

Well played Finland in the restart....can't have been easy to find the will to win again after watching it all unfold. Denmark players were true professionals to agree to get back out there.

That’s what is being reported, they probably wanted to honour the two sets of fans in the Stadium as well so opted to play on, not an easy decision to make

apparently from what i read

Christian Eriksen suffered a cardiac arrest when he collapsed in Denmark's Euro 2020 match against Finland, said Danish team doctor Morten Boesen.

Earlier, officials said the midfielder was stable in hospital and had sent his greetings to his national team-mates.

Eriksen collapsed shortly before half-time in Denmark's opening Euro 2020 game against Finland on Saturday.

"He was gone. We did cardiac resuscitation, it was a cardiac arrest," said Boesen.

"How close were we to losing him? I don't know, but we got him back after one defib [defibrillation] so that's quite fast.

"The examinations that have been done so far look fine. We don't have an explanation to why it happened."

Nicky91 13-06-2021 04:31 PM

Denmark are a confirmed 4th placer in this group now, without their star player and now lacking motivation

Calderyon 13-06-2021 04:35 PM

Nothing is confirmed until all games are played.

Shocking what happened to Christian Errikson, glad to hear he's on the mend. I wonder if this will be the end of his career though

i would be surprised if insurance etc would allow him to continue in professional football, maybe in some other role, but i can't see him returning as a player even if he wanted to
