Because it’s Harry and and Meghan and their obsessive hatred towards them won’t let them be anything other than toxic towards them. It’s incredibly sad and pathetic.

It's my understanding of it. Opinions vary.

So called "opinion" doesn't come into whether something is factual or not. It is a fact that Philip was NOT and never was the only person to use the nickname.

I said he was nowadays. Her father, mother and sister also used it. It isn't fact, only hearsay and opinion, that anyone else did.

I know you did. Still incorrect.

GoldHeart 09-06-2021 03:32 PM

Either way it's a pretty name

Glenn. 09-06-2021 03:46 PM

The queen's father, King George VI, affectionally gave her the nickname Lilibet as a small child, and the only person to reportedly call her this name in recent years was her late husband Prince Philip.

Correct.

Considering it looks now like there will be a lawsuit over claims that the BBC made that they didn't ask permission and Harry said they did, its tie the Queen stepped up and releases an official statement to confirm or deny the claims.

It's clear Harry and Meghan have few fans within the Palace but if incorrect leaks are coming out to paint them in a bad light, it needs clarification from the top.

That way it ends speculation and gossip and lets the new parents enjoy their daughter.

It's not the first time the BBC have embarrassed themselves , they have very little integrity or morals.

And as for the tabloid rags , I never pay any attention to them .

:umm2: so you’re annoyed on the queens behalf about them using her nickname... regardless of what the queen herself thinks about it?

Strangerer and strangerer.

You SURELY must concede that if Elizabeth is not annoyed, then there is no issue?

Markle has got lawyers to fire off warning letter to BBC because they said Queen did not know about name. Would it not have been less aggressive to just get the Queen to release a statement?

Already the kid is s few days old and she is threatening people with legal action

The Queen shouldn't have to waste her time on such pettiness and people getting offended on her behalf.

The Palace knew this was brewing and could have released a statement but chose to stay quiet fuelling the fire. As I said up the page, they can put this to bed with a statement from the top and not an "unknown royal source"

It needs to come from the queen otherwise it's not verifiable and just a "he said, she said"

I agree with you I don't know why harry did not just ask the pace rather than getting legals involved?

Totally agree with this.

It's ridiculous that a Great Grandmother, no matter who they were would allow this pathetic obsessive speculation of a negative form, to gather pace for the sake of her saying she is overjoyed or not, at her new Great Granddaughter and the name she has been given.

This is the problem with the whole Royal institutional set up.

What a welcome to her new Great Granddaughter that she does nothing personally to thwart those looking for nothing but negatives.

user104658 09-06-2021 05:08 PM

Someone get Liz on Twitters. I think it would be very enlightening.

“Saw more trash about my family in The Daily Mail today. Fake news! Sad!”

Swan 09-06-2021 05:08 PM

How bad is the relationship with Harry and his Grandmother?! Couldn't he just give her call.

Everything going on in world right now and this crap gets centre of attention. I wish the press wouldn't cover it, and Harry and Meghan would just go have their private life they wanted when leaving the royal family. All as bad as each other.

They do call, regularly according to them.

Tabloids and "sources" making up lies and stirring the pot is hardly on them.

It's more and more apparent that the root of all the trouble is the "institution" rather than the family themselves. They're pissed off that Harry told them where to go and now they've left they're still sticking the knife in at any oppportunity.

Oh for christ sake, stop acting like Harry and Meghan are oppressed and victims in all this circus crap. They're in the top tier most privileged people in the world. I can't stand the royals, and that includes 'ex' royals who want to keep their titles, but don't paint Harry and Meghan as victims here, it's simply not case.

People say their criticism is obsessive, but so is their defence.

Where did I defend them? I actually defended the Royal family in the post you quote. Calm down. I merely spoke of the institution and their insistence on releasing statements via "Palace sources" to undermine every little thing that happens.

Blaming either the Royal family or Harry and Meghan everytime the tabloids run with rumours and stories fuelled by unnamed sources is dumb.

Not sure why the angry outburst tbh nobody's forcing you to engage in the topic.

Crimson Dynamo 09-06-2021 05:30 PM

maybe the BBC got a tip off that is why they ran with it

A tip off from a 100% source
