Cricket resuming tomorrow think the reason footie isn’t going ahead is due to the reaction some fans would have during the minutes silence

Theatres are continuing as well but will dim the lights and play the anthem

It seems like Charles or whoever made this decision got it wrong sadly.

Plus the last time I checked I don't think that any of the Footballers were related to the Queen in any way.

The decision was given to the premier league with guidance that the anthem be played and a minutes silence along with black armbands, the PL bottled it hard to blame them as some fans would not have respected the silence

Rugby matches are going ahead.

This forced mourning narrative is really weird. If you want to mourn, have at it and knock yourselves out, but that's where it should end. Stop trying to force grief onto others.

The thing is Slim is that this bad feeling creeped in when Prince Philip died as well because again this country tried a forced mourning tactic on people, when really all they needed to do was just let people do what they want.

Including the horrible Chippy owner I suppose.

An announcement on Gameweek 8 will, the Premier League effectively said, be
provided “in due course”.

If next week’s fixtures are also called off, domestic football won’t resume until
the start of October as an international break takes place later this month.

A statement from the Premier League read:

At a meeting this morning, Premier League clubs paid tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

To honour her extraordinary life and contribution to the nation, and as a mark of respect, this weekend’s Premier League match round will be postponed, including Monday evening’s game.

Richard Masters, Premier League Chief Executive, said: “We and our clubs would like to pay tribute to Her Majesty’s long and unwavering service to our country.

“As our longest-serving monarch, she has been an inspiration and leaves behind an incredible legacy following a life of dedication.

“This is a tremendously sad time for not just the nation but also for the millions of people around the world who admired her, and we join together with all those in mourning her passing.”

Further updates regarding Premier League fixtures during the period of mourning will be provided in due course.

And welcome to the United Kingdom Of China.

I'm sure GTA will be censoring violence in this country soon when they do another version of GTAV.

It's too much common sense Rusticgal.

That's not allowed in this country.:nono:

Rugby fans are not as disrespectful as football fans though are they?

That is what I mean, the PL is not going ahead because of some fans reactions

Very disrespectful to the people mourning.

I think that most Brits don't want forced mourning sessions.

If a member of your family pissed off to the football instead of a funeral you would surely be bothered. The queen is the mother of our United kingdom, we should all be part of that family.

Ps I dont really know either...but the only thing I believe deep deep down, is all this rain is the nations tears

So you think it's right to force people to mourn the Queen? Do you not realize the slippery slope that actually leads to down the line?

People might see this post as dramatic, but people do need to put their foot down when authoritarian measures get put forward, regardless of what the reason is.

Be interesting to see all the free speech warriors trying to silence and cancel everyone over the next couple of months.

You dont have to mourn her...but you shouldnt expect the people working on match day to not..

What gives you the right to demand they turn up to serve you and your fat wallet at your whim?

It’s extremely sad that the queen has died but I don’t agree with cancelling all the football this weekend. There are still ways for people to show their respects at the game, whether that’s a minute silence, a round of applause etc.

If I was in a position where I had spent a lot of money on football tickets, travel and accommodation for an away game for it to be cancelled I wouldn’t be happy at all.
