Meghan Markle 'upset and overwhelmed' @ South Park piss-take
Prince Harry (37) and Meghan Markle (41) have finally broken their silence on an
episode of South Park in which they were mercilessly mocked and ridiculed, slamming claims that they are planning to sue the show - but not denying that the "Duchess" was left 'upset and overwhelmed' by their unflattering depiction.
https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2023/02...6907809221.jpg https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/newpix/2...8629345781.jpg 'Their legal team are casting an eye over the episode to see what is wrong, and what could be turned into something more sinister.' said a close Royal commentator...! Meghan is cuttingly referred to in the show as a 'sorority girl, actress, influencer, and victim' - and it was claimed this week by a source familiar with the couple that she had been left 'upset and overwhelmed' by the couple's depiction in the animated series. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art....html#comments Top Comment: What's remarkable is how much people AGREE with the cartoon! |
"upset and overwhelmed" = victim, again
|
Their spokesperson has rubbished claims that they are going to sue
|
Seems everyone else that Southpark have ridiculed has managed to suck it up or laugh it off. Wo would have thought this would have hit the Sussexes SOOOO hard and leave them SOOOO traumatised? Well, almost everyone.

I'd like to think they wouldn't even have thought of suing - but we all know they like a bit of litigation. I've not watched it but I haven't read that there was much that could be classed as untrue  |

if anything the episode could be seen as more tasteless towards the Queen as you see an open coffin of a cartoon image of the dead Queen laying there , that Kyle's brother keeps watching on his computer or something. But it's done in such a OTT way.....as it's not to be taken seriously as he keeps bawling his eyes out . |
The other thread where this is being discussed wasn’t enough? Maybe a nice mod can merge them so we don’t clutter up the forum with more rubbish from the tabloids

Well I'll repost my last one, I'm not reposting the big long one I made :hmph:. Alf will be gutted.
Briefly, I said that I have no idea what they have or haven't had to say about this episode but if it's just "reported in the press" it might as well be total guesswork, especially from "royal commentators". If they didn't say it publicly in their own words it's 50/50 whether there's an ounce of truth in any of it at this point. I also pointed out that SP's lampooning of H&M was pretty gentle by SP standards and yet Press Hams are wetting their boxers over it, which is almost a parody in itself. They're acting like it's the most savage take-down South Park has ever done. Here's Caitlyn Jenner in SP not long aster killing someone in a vehicular manslaughter: But yeah their H&M take down was brutal. :hehe:. |
I also noted that Fox News has had whole sections dedicated to one SP episode about Harry and Meghan and how "spot on" the dressing down was, but mysteriously haven't mentioned that SP lampooned Trump (as Mr Garrison in a wig and fake tan) for FOUR YEARS STRAIGHT. I guess they missed that . ... how weird... :joker:

In all honesty I sort of think H&M are currently low-hanging fruit for South Park, seems a little bit lazy and easy :umm2:. Though I suspect that's the British perspective, they're not AS panned in the press in the US as they are here. I'm not saying they're "above" parody or shouldn't be parodied, but that South Park usually does "current" the right way - with astute observations and a twist on the perspective. They're not usually bandwagon-hoppers and this does feel a little... bandwagon-y. But again, maybe that's because it's a UK bandwagon and a US show. They actually missed a tonne of material ripe for parody. They could have included Piers Morgan for a start :joker:. |
