Steve Bray
the protestor who was at the edge of
Downing Street with his Big Battery Amp and Big Speaker
Police
did not stop him.

I assume the Police back Starmer?

No it's not because the police back Starmer at all

It's because he wasn't doing anything that was illegal.
Which you well know.

If he had been doing this when Starmer was speaking you'd likely be cheering him on.

Tbf there's been some okay to decent moments from the Tories leadership imo.

But considering they have been in charge of the country over the last 15 years, I will agree with you that there's been way more bad moments with them.

…in ‘stopping him’ would also emphasise/highlight and draw attention to the anti protest/anti democracy laws that the Tories have also given us in their reign….how ironic that would be…vote for us, we take away your freedoms etc…

You put that far better than I would have :joker:

A pity you weren't canvassing out there Ammi .

I actually think Sunak is a decent PM and under the radar he has achieved a fair bit. Trouble is his comms aren't great and he doesn't connect with voters very naturally. Let's not forget he lost a vote against Liz Truss pretty convincingly and she's one of the worst communicators in politics

He's obviously also inherited a pretty difficult legacy. I don't think any Conservative could win this election tbh after 14 years in power

Sunak PM

Crimson Dynamo 23-05-2024 08:07 AM

Every day seems to bring further concerning signs of what a Labour government would bring. This week, the shadow foreign secretary David Lammy kowtowed to the International Criminal Court, in a betrayal of one of Britain’s closest allies, Israel. Sir Keir has refused to fully match the Government’s military spending plans, evidence of dangerous complacency at a time of global danger.

His party still does not seem to have lost its obsession for radical gender ideology or general wokery. Sir Keir has the instincts of an Islington human rights lawyer, despite his efforts to develop a more demotic appeal. His pledge to attack private schools is pure class envy.

I'm glad you are off on holiday and hope you have a great time .
Even more glad you'll get your vote in too.

Thankfully I don't go to Rome until after the election.
Because I do want to get out there and do my bit to hopefully get this shambolic, hard-line bunch of Sunak and co consigned to political history.

He's done a lot of work to repair relations with the EU including reworking the Brexit deal and helping to restore the Northern Ireland government. He's also restored some credibility and competence to government after the collapse of the Boris administration and the Truss disaster. His reputation is actually pretty good globally because he's seen as quite pragmatic and someone who can be worked with.

Also made a lot of progress in making the Rwanda deal actually happen and been quite bold with the smoking ban

arista 23-05-2024 08:23 AM

PM Sunak,

Taking Live Questions from the staff

Well he wouldn't have likely won a seat.

In all the Westminster elections he's stood around 6 or 7 of them.
He's been strongly beaten in all except one in Thanet South where he came a closer second.

He was dominant in the European parliament but since then, his fading star has more or less got closer to being out politically.
