I know you think you know everything but the workings of other people's minds? What an ego you have...

You can find slapstick comedy funny without thinking it would be a good idea to go out and start tripping people in the street.

Plus humour is entirely subjective - if one believes that the image is funny... then it is funny. "That isn't funny" is a meaningless statement. "That isn't funny to me" is what people actually mean. And so what...?

so what, we have just had an acid attack on a mother in London, just a few weeks back, not sure how she is doing but it was likely she could lose her sight, I think its hard enough to get decent people into politics without being attacked, I would be saying the same if this was wee Nicki as well ...not saying Farage is decent but this could potentially put people off, just like Wes Streeting not being about to travel on public transport any more....not that you had any input on that thread, I wonder why?

user104658 04-06-2024 03:34 PM

Does no one have anything to say about Nigel's callous jokes about this milkshake incident? When people have been stabbed recently? I think this is pretty serious... can we even consider him suitable to run now? I just don't know. @LeatherTrumpet you seemed pretty sure of your thoughts on this matter? Any insight at all here?

You're right it's very serious. Nigel must stand down. What a fool, making jokes.

I'd say he styled out an embarrassing incident.

4 June 2024,

[Two people have been arrested
after Nigel Farage had a drink thrown
over him while launching his personal election
campaign in Clacton.

The Reform UK leader was leaving a pub
after carrying out media interviews when a
woman appeared to launch a McDonald's banana
milkshake over his face and suit jacket.

Essex Police said a 25-year-old woman was
arrested on suspicion of assault.

While making the arrest, the force said a man
was also detained on suspicion of assaulting
an emergency worker.

"Both individuals remain in custody for
questioning," a police spokesperson said.

The politician was walking out of the
Moon and Starfish pub - a JD Wetherspoon - to the
Reform UK party bus at the time.]

Is it acceptable for a politician to make light of and joke about things like stabbings and acid attacks in order to "style out" their own embarrassment?

If he'd just been joking about a milkshake being thrown that would be one thing, but we all know that this actually was an assault, and not funny. Because it COULD have been acid. I didn't see it before and stupidly made a joke, but LT has convinced me - it's not funny at all, because it's not about milkshake. It's about acid, knife crime and immigration. It's serious. Nigel must apologise for this tweet and step down.

That would be making a video saying "if anyone is worried, it's OK, I'm fine".

Instead he chose to make a milkshake-related joke about an attack that brings to mind serious assault.

I don't think we can overlook this Kate! you're going to have to find another smarmy bigot politician to vote for.

I'm glad you've seen LTs point and the error of your ways  I think I will overlook it and continue my policy of voting for Nige.

Careful Livia... that's LT's opinions you're accidentally criticising. Blasphemous 'round these parts if anything.

I have no liking for Farage.
However this could have been really bad, thinking of whatever may have been thrown there other than a milkshake.

It's really frightening what people in politics now have to look out for.
Fearing possible injury to serious injury or even worse.

Farage is the kind of individual who would brush this off and try to make some light of it.
While I'd guess realising inside just how dangerous this was.

What is in the minds of people to set out to do an act like this.
I'm glad he's okay and it was a milkshake.
However he and all other politicians shouldn't have to be in fear of dangerous nutcases incapable of reason who decide to assault.
