They're totally dressed in black... and don't appear to be wearing anything police-like.
There are people in the house wearing those fluorescent jackets that the police wear. I assumed they were police.

Argh, damned breaks.

Well, What I just saw was about 4 people, dressed in black (couldn't see white shirts), picking up things, rolling up (and back down) the green carpet, moving a plant.. etc.

Hmm, curious. I know that wasn't anything do with the bomb squads, etc.

Ah well.

hm, wasn't sure about the bunch rolling up the carpets - couldn't see flourecents on them, though, I'm not wearing my glasses... so.

And the view's changed again now.. so, production staff must be around.

From news.bbc.co.uk

The security alert turned out to be a false alarm when the suspect box discovered in studios near the house was found to only contain electrical equipment, said police.

Army Bomb disposal experts examined the Elstree complex before declaring it safe on Friday night.

It is thought the alert began after the sniffer dog reacted to pyrotechnic residue in the stage area.

Actually, you didn't, we both posted around the same time, I was pasting originally, I didn't actually see you post your post until AFTER I had posted mine.

And another thing I'll add, I always find it useful to post extracts, saves people having to visit a link.

Whilst I'm at it - the producers are now going around the garden, the chickens have been fastened up, and thigns are being removed that shouldn't be there.

The housemates are going to be returned to the house sometime later this evening.

Voting will close tomorrow.

Feeds are being returned to normal at the moment, with the appropriate delays being reestablished.

I think we can safely say that all the scare mongering is now over.

steve_o 05-07-2003 01:17 AM

Well whoever posted it, that's great news and I'm glad that things should be back to normal soon. Well done to all the security there though and especially the sniffer dog, Steph will be proud of the mad mut.

dustmite 05-07-2003 01:52 AM

The housemates are about to rejoin the house!

Live B also just switched to show the boy's bedroom.

Woo!

dustmite 05-07-2003 01:56 AM

Both feeds are now pointing to the fire exit inside the boy's bedroom, so I presume we shall (well, us e4i live feed watchers) see the housemates enter through those shortly.

Oooh, all nervous. Feels like first-day excitement all over again, lol.

dustmite 05-07-2003 02:00 AM

Saw this on Digital Spy.

According to this Associated Press story from an Australian website the excutive producer entered the house to tell the housemates what was happening.

Quote:

A Big Brother spokeswoman said tonight that the show's executive producer had entered the house to tell the contestants what was happening.

She said they were then taken out and driven away to a secure location off site. Although some of the crowd could see the contestants as they were led away, the spokeswoman insisted their contact with the outside world had been minimal.

Security officers stood at the gates of the studio.

What Happened To The Housemates?
Day 44, 00:40

As drama enveloped the Big Brother studio, the housemates were cooped up in the bedroom, blissfully unaware of the mayhem going on just yards away.

Little did they know that plans were underway for their emergency evacuation from the House.

At 20.45 the housemates were startled by the sudden appearance of a member of the Big Brother production team.

As the head popped around the door, a smiley face told them "not to be scared."

The housemates were anything but scared though. As they listened to the messenger relay the story of the security alert going on in the nearby studios, the gang cheered and bounced on the spot as if it was the best news they'd had since they first came into the House.

Nush clapped her hands like an excited toddler and the others rushed to the door squealing as they learned they'd be taken to a secure location, out of harm's way.

Big Brother, as ever, would be watching though. A camera would follow their every move, and they were warned they shouldn't attempt to communicate with any of the numerous security guards along the way.

While tentatively waiting for the House to get the all clear, the group were permitted to listen to two CDs. Crossing the musical spectrum, Big Brother provided them with the dulcet tones of Westlife and legendary rockers Led Zepplin.

dustmite 05-07-2003 02:25 AM

Further to my previous posts, the police carried out two controlled explosions, which later proved that the situation, was indeed, a false alarm caused by old pyrotechnic residue and a box of misplaced cables.

*Giggle*

Anyone suspect there's an ex-employ now?
