I joined the culinary guild because I wanted my milkshake to bring all the Miqo'te to the yard but as soon as I equipped the skillet I became bollocks naked. Then I figured I needed different armour sets or whatever so I backed off on it awhile. But when I get bored of whacking Dodos listening to the Steve Austin podcast I'll probably go back to Limsa to focus on it for awhile instead of getting into scraps.

I really regret not being an Elezen female. They look so badass. And I don't like focusing on more than one playthrough.

If you decide to subscribe you'll get something called a Fantasia which allows you to change your gender and race.

The Armor sets is confusing at first but you'll get the hang of it, essentially your level for any class is tied to the weapon (or tool for the crafting classes) you've got equipped. You an save different sets and flick between them whenever so you aren't cosntantly changing your gear manually when you want to switch class.

The other City States have more interesting classes so once you can travel you'll probably want to consider taking up some of them up. I love Limsa but it annoys me how it only has two combat classes.

Scarlett. 27-08-2014 09:38 PM

There's no real need to do alt characters in this game, since you can do all classes :p

I just did Garuda Hard Mode... and got SIX commendations, suffice to say I was like "Holy ****ing ****" lol, I love going to the central area in each city and listening to Answers echoing all over the area, it brings chills to me lol, reminds me of this

Apparently we will get a similarly epic event prior to next years expansion :D

Only until October :cheer2:

Tom4784 28-08-2014 12:37 AM

I did that Limsa quest and I've got myself the windup dolls too. I've currently got Thancred following me about.

Scarlett. 28-08-2014 12:59 AM

I usually use Minfillia lol, I liked the cutscene, it looks like they're starting to use emotions on our characters during the cutscenes, which is great, lol. I think you're nearing the level you begin doing dungeons now Stu :D

Scarlett. 29-08-2014 10:14 AM

I finally saved up enough money to buy myself a room in the Free Company house... now I just need to buy furniture, lol.

Had a fun trial last night, half the FC went up against a boss, it was a laugh, glad I managed to find the one I'm in, lol.

Tom4784 29-08-2014 12:04 PM

Yeah I've found a good FC, I'm still levelling up though so I can't buy a room yet.

FFXIV has just been launched in China, its likely the number of active users has gone over 3m now :D

The Lightning Returns event launches again tommorow!

Tom4784 31-08-2014 01:10 PM

Ah cool, I missed it the first time around.

Scarlett. 31-08-2014 01:11 PM

Same here, I kinda wish I had a female character too, since the Lightning armour is so much cooler than Snow's armour, lol.

Tom4784 01-09-2014 10:44 PM

My Free Company decided to have a photo shoot. I'm the blonde one on the right.

Scarlett. 03-09-2014 02:36 AM

Tom4784 03-09-2014 08:13 AM

It's annoyong how you have to be lvl 45 to finish the Lightning storyline.

Scarlett. 04-09-2014 11:05 AM

What level are you now, Dezzy?

Apparently they're going to be showing off some 2.4 stuff at TGS (Shiva! Ninja job!) and adding personal housing around the same time!

Tom4784 04-09-2014 11:34 AM

Lvl 40 now.

Scarlett. 04-09-2014 11:54 AM

I can't wait for them to show off the expansion next month, I hope there's some big large scale zones.

Tom4784 04-09-2014 12:31 PM

I want to be able to explore Ishgard, the Coerthas loading screen is such a tease.

Scarlett. 04-09-2014 01:36 PM

I think Ishgard is definately opening up in the expansion, along with the rest of the Coerthas Highlands/lowlands, especially with this being visible from the South West corner of the map

2.3 story spoiler
Spoiler:

We do actually get a small glimpse inside Ishgard during 2.3

I can't believe a good 20 hours in I'm still bumbling around La Noscea. And not in an I suck kind of way. So much still to get stuck into.

That being said I just done the level 20 Arcane quest, the main story quest seems to be drying up till I do more miscellaneous stuff, and I'm getting a teensy bit sick of "go and kill the big ****off birds wrecking the old mans crops" missions to progress things.

It'll be interesting to see if the further immersion of this game can overpower my usually incredibly capricious nature of only having an interest in games for about two weeks. Even ones I really, really like.

There's about a week left on my subscription.

Tom4784 06-09-2014 05:33 PM

It does get a bit more varied once you get deeper into the story since you'll get more in the way of Duties and Dungeons to do.

Stu 06-09-2014 08:05 PM

Got a nice free party invite, so finally the social aspect of it is open to me. Casual house, just a bunch of nice folk talking bollocks and helping each other out. Nice one!

Tom4784 06-09-2014 08:13 PM

Yeah, it gets a lot better once you get yourself into a Free Company. Having someone to run through dungeons and other **** with is always great.

Ramsay 06-09-2014 08:53 PM

Sooooo tempted to give this a shot. what's it like on the PS? never could really get a hang of MMOs on consoles in the past tbh
