Absolutely NOT.

Blair Witch was soooo boring so can we stop making out it's the horror film of the 90s please.
(Presuming you're talking about the original and not the recent one because I haven't seen that yet) |
Can we have a wild card for the 31st (it's the actual halloween day)

A cheeky flash vote to decide which horror perches the top 10?

Here for

Has anyone seen The Sixth Sense?
If you're a fan of ghosts/supernatural/thriller I recommend it. It's one of the few I like. (I'm speaking in general not wildcard) |
I might watch a horror soon. Shame Amazon prime isn't that great for them though.

I'll just skip the Shining if that's ok? I ****ing hate that movie and Shelley Duvall's shockingly bad performance.

The Hills Have Eyes (2006) - 9/10 The Hills Have Eyes has always terrified me since it was released. It's really disturbing, graphic and gory but it actually tells a story and delivers well developed characters that I care about which sets it apart from other films like it. I think it's one of the only remakes that's actually quite decent. It's amazingly written and the soundtrack is terrifying to me. The way the film is shot is also frightening and everything about it is executed perfectly. The mutants are absolutely terrifying. I really felt for the Carters and THAT sequence in the trailer is probably one of the most brutal sequences of events in any film I've ever seen. Vinessa Shaw's character Lynn is one of my favourites in horror and her death is honestly tragic. The journey the surviving characters go on is amazing and doesn't feel forced. The film feels a bit slow at first but when it gets going it really gets going. The climax is absolutely fantastic and really pays off. The only reason this film doesn't get 10/10 is because of some of the slow parts and because of the rape scene (sorry I really don't like it). But yes, an amazing film, really well made and I'm really glad it made the list for Vinessa Shaw alone :clap1: |
I shall rewatch after Casualty

The Hills Have Eyes (2006) - 7/10
I did enjoy the movie but not until around the rape scene where the father got burned to death,Lynn got murdered and the mother got shot but I did find the rape scene a bit uncomfortable to watch but the scenes after that were amazing. It was a really slow start that I did consider turning off at one point. The characters were okay and beast  I loved that dog, talking of dogs I didn't appreciate seeing the other dog dead on the floor. I do applaud how disturbing and graphic this movie is which made it into a good horror movie. |
I'll get this watched on Tuesday :spin:
|
The dad being set on fire, this music kicking in -
And the mutants storming the trailer is honestly the scariest thing in a movie for me ever. |
Hills have eyes, the hills have eyes
Who are you to judge, who are you to judge? |
Hills have eyes (2006)
One of my favourite horror movies tbh. It really keeps you on the edge of your seat. Full of suspense and graphic horror, it's a must watch. The acting is really good also, always had a bit of a thing for the main guy winkwink. I GIVE THIS FILM 10/10 |
Thanks for your reviews so far :clap1:

The Hills Have Eyes (2006) - 9/10
Love this film! Everything about it is near perfection and the characters are relatable and well thought out. Some people might complain about the slow build up, but I, who doesn't even think it's that slow tbh, found it really helps set the tone of the movie. The 'attack' scene is still pretty uncomfortable to watch after seeing it so many times, but i'm glad the director never held back as it really allows the viewer to feel the same sort of terror as the Carter's (and Doug lol). Speaking of Doug, I genuinely believe he's one of the most underrated characters in the horror genre. His story arc is great. On a side note, the scene where Big Bob gets attacked is so chilling. "Daddy" :worry: :worry: :worry: |
Will watch THHE tonight

The Hills Have Eyes (2006) The first time I ever watched The Hills Have Eyes I was home alone. I do that quite a lot to try and scare myself and it rarely happens - I pretty much grew up watching horror because my cousins are order than me and I spent a lot of my weekends at their house. For me The Hills Have Eyes is one of the best remakes of all time, very rarely do I feel the original movies are surpassed but Alexandre Aja (who I think is one of the best horror directors around) really did something special with THHE. I loved the subtle build up after the intense intro, the scenes such as Lynne finding jewellery in the gas station and spotting something shiny in the surrounding hills keep the viewer on edge just enough to let you enjoy getting to know the characters but not letting your guard down. The trailer home invasion is brutal and I am so glad the director kept it that way and didn't dumb it down to get a lower certificate to allow the teen audience in like a few movies were doing around the time. I found Aaron Stanford and Vinessa Shaw to be the stand out performances here along with a dementedly brilliant turn by Robert Joy as Lizard. My only slight complaint would be that Dan Byrd as Bobby is slightly irritating at times. Another scene connected that I liked was Doug comforting a dying Ethel, I had a lump in my throat during the scene and felt the acting was on top form. The scenes of Doug going to find Catherine were way more graphic than I expected and I thought the sets of the abandoned testing houses were especially great and I loved how you honestly were rooting for Doug, in some movies I find that you can start to root for the bad guy because the victims are so stupid it gets hard to care for them. I was especially glad to see Beast get revenge for Beauty - I suspect most viewers were happy to see him snarling and ready to pounce Big Brain. Simply put I think the movie is amazing and essentially I cant think of one thing I would change (well maybe Beauty and Lynne surviving but that'd ruin a few things I love about the movie) so I rate The Hills Have Eyes very highly. 10/10 |
