People just need to stop defending these ratings. The simple fact is this series is rubbish and it is getting the ratings it deserves. Channel 5/Endemol seem to have lost the plot - after such a successful CBB with differing ages, they produce this god awful series with horrible nasty housemates. We are barely achieving overnight ratings of 1 million - that speaks volumes!!

The ratings will fall further this week until Armageddon week which will undoubtedly disappoint. I just despair at the decisions made with this series! To me, it looks like Channel 5 want to dispose of the civilian BB and are making every effort to piss off the viewers.

These are the officials, some include, some don't include +1. In brackets is the overnights.

Monday- 1.67m incl +1 (1.30m)
Tuesday- 1.61m incl +1 (1.22m)
Wednesday- 1.54m incl +1 (1.10m)
Thursday- 1.69m incl +1 (1.25m)
Friday- 1.50m excl +1 (1.30m)
Saturday- 1.27m exc +1 (1.0m)
Sunday- 1.55m incl +1 (1.10m)

So Friday and Sat don't include it. It's not bad at all. Nice timeshifts for the Monday, Wednesday and Sunday though!

Official averages by week:

W1- 1.64m
W2- 1.54m
W3- 1.58m

The officials are good. Especially when you consider it has clashed with the best World Cul in recent history.

Jemal 07-07-2014 03:39 PM

Nice

I'm so glad to hear so many people support these ratings! I for one think they are excellent when you consider the number of people complaining!

There is still clearly a large audience for the show, despite massive competition it shows the show can retain a wide audience! This is somewhat more promising for Viacom who take over in less than a week!

11 years ago in BB4 (bore) there was also an episode where the house was turned into Christmas time, with Christmas songs, presents and turkey.

Watching Christmas stuff in summer just feels depressing, also Family Guy aired their Christmas episode, I was not amused lol.

Seriously wtf was with last night's episode?

Bizarre.

One of the worst BB ep's in many a year.

I see more people saying they are underwhelmed with the ratings and you think they're excellent?

Seriously....Excellent?

I think that was the worst episode in BB history apart from Mark giving a few good moments I was ashamed to be a fan for a bit. It was so budget like a sketch from SM:TV Live.

It was so cringey and I cant imagine anyone sitting at home enjoyed watching them all dance and sing to Christmas songs, it was very very bad lol.

The rating aren't excellent, there ok. As long as it averages over 1.5 with the officials then its not so bad, but last years had excellent ratings for channel 5 BB but that was because it had more of a diverse set of housemates and probably appealed to a wider audience than this series.

Jamesy 07-07-2014 07:03 PM

Yeah ratings are OK, nothing amazing. Official figures are staying steady so that's a good thing at least.

Samm 07-07-2014 07:21 PM

The Armageddon twist could get good ratings since Marcus is doing a Promo for it

Officials are not wat advertisers care about all about overnights its terrible either way you look at it

Will. 07-07-2014 07:50 PM

When will bosses learn that Marcus should not be the narrator, it's like listening to a barking dog. I really hope Viacom change everything, get all the semi celebs out of BB and put in genuine, normal, interesting people, with a mix of personalities. The list goes on...

Actually, before going to Ch5 and before the airing of CBB8, producers explained that they wanted a specific official average. They spoke more about official averages than overnights.

Ch5 are not only looking at overnights and officials but the young reach which is much higher than most shows. The target demographic for BB % wise is very impressive still, it just is that less overall viewers (of all ages) are watching it.

Gotta laugh at how people were stopping watchibg after Toya got evicted and the ratings barely changed and now people are threatening to turn off over Matthew going yet the ratings will also stay the same. :hehe:

Well Advertisers should have experts that told them you shouldn't expect many people to be tuning into any other channel when a World Cup match is on..

Jake. 07-07-2014 08:04 PM

So it's essentially the same as BB12 (give or take 100K) despite airing 3 years later whilst also being against the biggest sporting event in the world? Yeah, producers aren't thick, I'm pretty sure they knew what to expect.

Jamesy 07-07-2014 08:29 PM

Advertisers also work with Demand 5 so low overnights will not affect that. Plus the product placement (paid by companies) shown in the highlights and the sponser (Super Casino) will be seen by viewers regardless of whether they watch the episode live or later on.

True, ive noticed when I watch on Demand 5 the adverts are different, more "grown up" as maybe they are aimed at a different audience ie: people catching up because of work ect...The older watchers.

Ive also noticed the ads inbetween highlights recently becoming a lot less high brand and a lot more downscale as if marketers aren't as hungry to buy ad space on BB as before.

The fact they advertised 3 channel 5 shows in 1 ad break kind of made me think.

Maybe im wrong, look out for it tonight and see if you notice.
