Definitely wasn’t tactical voting on my part. You did really well to be top 3 times but it really is a week by week kinda thing.. and this was quite a strong week imo. But you still did great

Exactly .... its judged week on week

Not gutted, he is just a sore loser, never a word of congratulations for those still in ...he needs to learn to lose with grace

Yeah, I get that. I try to be fair, it's just a bit of fun.

Benjamin 29-11-2024 04:18 PM

Yeah, not sure how tactical voting would work seeing as every week we bounce around the rankings. I feel like all of us have had strong and weak rounds.

You get no reward for grace.

True

I had both your songs middle of the pack this time round so no tactical voting from me

Probably Livia. Who had me bottom on both songs and used her killer vote on me.

I'll remember.

FYI...I had you as third for the eighties and first for the 90s. So there. I look forward to your abject apology. Alternatively you can just send cash.

Normally Alf ranked high in my I rankings. This time I’m afraid Alf did finish last in both my rankings. Not because the songs were not good but the 80’s song has been used for that same dance in strictly before, and the 90’s song has been used several times for several dances on Strictly. They felt like safe options and didn’t seem very creative compared to some of the other songs chosen by others.

So it was you.

These songs have been used that much because there's basically no other songs to fit the dances I had from those decades.

It was either Mambo no.5 or "I'll be there for you" by the Rembrandts ( The Friends theme tune) 90s Quickstep songs are limited

The only other was "Cotton eye joe" and that's also been done to death. I think I chose the most fun one of the three.

The obvious 80s choice for a Samba is Gloria Estafan song. But I thought I was being more creative going with Lionel Ritchie.

The only other song I could find to fit well for a Samba was "I haven't stopped dancing yet" by Odyssey. And believe me, I searched.

I even commented that I was confident with my choices and that I chose the best options for the dances I had. I thought I was well safe.

Can't believe I got beat, I thought there was a few poor efforts in there, that didn't fit the dances they had.

Not gonna single any out, they speak for themselves.

Well it wouldn’t have just been me, going by the overall scores.

I do get it is hard on some rounds depending on what dance you get given. I think you got unlucky this round. For me there were some suprise placings.

Alf 29-11-2024 11:27 PM

I'm not bothered about it, I never expected to win. I just like to fight my own corner.

Alf 29-11-2024 11:28 PM

It's you that missed out on my Christmas song.

I was genuinely gutted for you though, as you’d said you’d come runner-up twice I was rooting for you to break that streak and win.

I'll have to put Gary Glitter away for another year.

Alf 29-11-2024 11:35 PM

Sod it. Let's play it anyway. He's served his time now.

One of the classic Christmas songs from my childhood that you never hear anymore or haven't since the mid 1990s.

Alf 29-11-2024 11:41 PM

Obviously I wouldn't have chose that.

I will post the Christmas song I had planned when your songs have been posted. I don't think anyone will choose it.

Benjamin 29-11-2024 11:45 PM

Hopefully nobody was planning on using Gary Glitter as you’ve posted it now (and for other reasons).

I think Kate was thinking about choosing it. She's old enough to remember it was one of the Christmas classics back in the day. One of those you'd hear 50 + times every year like, Slade, Wham and Mariah Carey ect..

Never in a million years.

Alf 30-11-2024 12:06 AM

There wasn't that many complaints when the film "Joker" used a Gary Glitter song in 2019.

I'm a beliver in that you can hate the artist but still like the art.

Glitter was a sick paedo, but he did produce some great music.

We're gonna soon find out that there were lots of great artists that were vile individuals when the Epstein and Diddy names are released.
