..Premonition…

Spoiler:

…I’d forgotten the ending and I have to say that through the movie I was annoyingly distracted in trying to recall what the ending was….I’m pretty sure that this movie didn’t get very good critics reviews but I liked it…it reminded me of Memento because of that reliving and reliving that one day, thing….I guess the only thing that I felt or didn’t feel I guess would be more the thing…is any connection between them…but then she did question, should she just let it happen…?….but yeah, we connected with her and her daughters and her mother etc …but we didn’t connect with him…well, I didn’t…it was a good movie, though…very thought provoking…and the ending gave as much sense of ‘closure’ as it could have in that it gave her that purpose and that hope …not just for Linda but for the girls as well…

Premonition
Spoiler:

not a bad thriller, when I first saw it I found it ashame that she couldn't actually prevent the husband's death, and the time lines were confusing at first . And I was surprised she then got pregnant again.
But rewatching it I just accept it for what it is , keeps you engaged and like you said there's the connection with her and the daughters. Like I said it was an ok movie

Spoiler:

I liked this one even though it was a bit mind bending, she basically caused him to die trying to stop him dying

Blue Miracle

Spoiler:

It was a nice feel good movie and lovely that it was true as well what a great guy Papa Omar is

…Blue Miracle…

Spoiler:

…really exactly the same as you’ve said is how we felt…it was a lovely feel good story and then just extra lovely because it was a true story, I hadn’t realised that…Papa Omar…..

Blue Ruin

…I watched Blue Ruin a little while ago and I liked it, I liked Deight’s character and you feared for him all of the way through because he was so out of his depth, type thing…

…I watched I am All of the Girls last night….I had avoided it when I’d seen the trailer….actually I didn’t watch the full trailer, I felt that it was something that was going to be too difficult to watch…?..but I’m glad that I did, as harrowing as things like that are which are true stories…it’s important to know them …for those children it’s important…

… The Meyerowitz Stories on Netflix looks like it might be a good watch…?…

Niamh. 01-06-2021 12:22 PM

Yep, I'll put that on now

Niamh. 02-06-2021 02:20 PM

The Meyerowitz Stories

Spoiler:

It was very good, I liked seeing Ben Stiller and Adam Sandler in more serious roles. I'm glad Danny finally stopped allowing his dad to treat him so shabbily in the end and told him no. It's so sad really how Harold just discarded Danny and Jean when he divorced their mother, so tough for kids to go through that type of rejection and it really effects them all through their lives. It was nice though that all the siblings became close by the end.

As a side note, Ben Stiller really could be Dustin Hoffmans son

…The Meyerowitz Stories…

Spoiler:

…I loved Danny, I loved his relationship with his daughter…they had such a connection……I loved how angry he got behind the wheel of a car……just really well written characters and so well cast…their ‘stories’ just drew you into their family completely and some incredible names in relatively small parts…excellent…..

…is anyone up for a 2024 reboot…?…

…I have a few possible movie suggestions and I’ll post some trailers to check out…obviously it would be nice to have more watch suggestions from everyone taking part so the vibe is ‘something for everyone…’….in terms of tastes and genres etc…the big sticky thing will be streaming access and all being able to access the same movie for free…as paid for movies are not an option…anyway, I’ll post some suggestions just because I’ve checked out Netflix to see what’s airing there atm…but we won’t start anything up until we know for sure that everyone can access a chosen movie….

Niamh. 27-03-2024 01:46 PM

Yes I'm definitely up for it!

No Escape (2015 film) - it’s an Owen Wilson starring movie but it’s not his usual genre…/…it’s an action thriller…

No Escape is a 2015 American action thriller film directed by John Erick Dowdle, who co-wrote the screenplay with his brother, Drew Dowdle. The film stars Owen Wilson, Lake Bell, and Pierce Brosnan, and tells the story of an expat engineer trapped with his family in an unidentified country in Southeast Asia during a violent uprising.
The film was released on August 26, 2015, by The Weinstein Company.[6] It had special sneak previews in the Philippines on August 16 and 17, 2015, as well as multiple pre-screenings throughout the United States before its official release.

…I think the synopsis on Jaws is probably not necessary to post…...

"The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar", was adapted into a short film directed by Wes Anderson with Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular character, alongside Ralph Fiennes, Dev Patel, Ben Kingsley, and Richard Ayoade.[2]

Boyz n the Hood is a 1991 American coming-of-age hood crime drama film written and directed by John Singleton in his feature directorial debut.[3] It stars Cuba Gooding Jr., Ice Cube, Nia Long, Morris Chestnut, Tyra Ferrell, Laurence Fishburne, Regina King, and Angela Bassett. Boyz n the Hood follows Tre Styles (Gooding Jr.), who is sent to live with his father Furious Styles (Fishburne) in South Central Los Angeles, surrounded by the neighborhood's booming gang culture. The film's title is a reference to the 1987 Eazy-E rap song of the same name, written by Ice Cube.

True Spirit is a 2023 Australian biographical drama film directed by Sarah Spillane and written by Spillane, Cathy Randall, and Rebecca Banner.[1] The film is based on the 2010 memoir of the same name by Jessica Watson, played by Teagan Croft. She is an Australian sailor who was awarded the Order of Australia Medal and is on the Australian Sailing Hall of Fame after attempting a solo global circumnavigation at the age of 16.[2][3][4] The film was made available for streaming on Netflix on 3 February 2023.

…I won’t paste a synopsis for 8 Mile either because I think that all will be familiar with it…

…no synopsis necessary for Pulp Fiction either…

Welcome to the Punch is a 2013 British action thriller film written and directed by Eran Creevy and starring James McAvoy, Mark Strong, and Andrea Riseborough.[5][6] The script had been placed on the 2010 Brit List, a film-industry-compiled list of the best unproduced screenplays in British film. Ammi 27-03-2024 02:10 PM

…there was another one which looked like it could be a good watch…/…El Conde…it’s a vampire/horror movie…but I’m not sure whether it’s subtitled or available in English and not sure what the dubbing would be like…maybe leave that one for now…

I have a suggestion since Cillian Murphy is big atm, I spotted this one of his from years ago, a romcom which is odd for him and it stars Lucy Lui, full movie is on youtube so would suit us all
