It was first found on 10th December and still only 12 cases detected so I am thinking it is not as transmissible

Risks in PM's plan
[Analysis by Jon Craig, chief political correspondent SkyNewsHD The NHS is moving to a "war footing", Boris Johnson declares, imitating his hero Winston Churchill, before admitting there'll be no change from Plan B in England. "We have a chance to ride out this Omicron wave without shutting down our country once again," the PM says in typically optimistic opening remarks. Well, which is it? A war footing or riding out the virus? The only measure planned as part of the PM's "war footing", it appears, is daily testing of 100,000 key workers. Is that wise, though? Surely there's a risk – in the short term, at least - that more testing could lead to more positive results and more staff shortages? And where are the test kits coming from? Isn't there a shortage?] |

The Downing Street Briefing
has now concluded. |
The Omicron variant is milder.
We aren't seeing too many deaths or hospitalisations. But we should still get vaccinated, so we don't overwhelm the NHS. |
i think the nhs is going to be stressed pretty heavily, but at this point any restrictions just wouldnt affect the numbers being infected quickly enough
We are starting to peak in london and the rest of the country will peak over the next couple of weeks. After that, there will likely be a substantial decrease in pressure pretty quickly |
