I find it hilarious when the press/some Gaga or Madonna stans try to make out there is some big rivalry between the two or they dislike each other when the artists themselves seem to like and respect each other or don't give a damn what people say.

Both Madonna and Gaga know how to wind the press up or use them to their advantage;).

Here in the States, Madonna sat down with ABC News and had some interesting comments about Lady Gaga. In another interview, on Friday's (January 13) "The Graham Norton Show," the singer seemed to take the high road and likened her early days of hustling in New York City to Gaga's beginnings.

"When I first saw her, I saw her performing at a very small club in Manhattan a couple of years ago, maybe it was like three years ago," she said. "I was actually really impressed by her. I thought she was really cool and she did remind me of me back in the day. I liked her rawness and there was something fresh about there and ballsy, and when she spoke to the audience, she sounded like she had a similar sense of humor to me, quite ironic, and I liked her. So I do think she is very talented."

That was really the end of the subject during their chat, other than when Madonna teased the British talk-show host about naming his dog after her. However, when he said his other dog was named Bailey, she quipped, "Not Gaga?"

Some of that sentiment was mirrored in Madge's ABC interview, the rest of which airs on Friday's night's 20/20. While she did call Gaga's "Born This Way" song "reductive" when asked about comparisons to her own "Express Yourself," she went on to say that she sees a lot of her own work in Gaga's.

"I certainly think she references me a lot in her work. And sometimes I think it's amusing and flattering and well-done," she said, later adding that she thinks Gaga is "a very talented artist" and that she's making a "statement about taking something that was in the zeitgeist, you know, 20 years ago and turning it inside out and reinterpreting it."

Smithy 15-01-2012 12:20 AM

yes because loving yourself and fighting for what you believe in is so zeitgeist

pretentious bitch

Saph 15-01-2012 12:00 PM

I never understood the Express Yourself/Born This Way thing... They sound completely different to me :suspect:

HML is the only song that deserves a number 1 off that album.

Will it ever end?!

Ever since Madonna hit the road promoting her film ‘W.E.,’ the press has hounded the Material Girl over her thoughts on Lady Gaga. Now, following Madge’s Golden Globe win for ‘Masterpiece,’ two more divas have gotten involved — Elton John and his husband, David Furnish.
Before Madonna accepted her Golden Globe win, John told a reporter that she had “no f—in’ chance” at the award for Best Original Song — for which John was also nominated for his contribution to ‘Gnomeo and Juliet.’ When she did in fact win, TMZ reports that John was in the audience and “seemed p—ed off in the crowd when Madonna’s name was read.” We’ll attribute John’s beef with Madge to sour grapes. No one likes to lose!

However, John’s husband, David Furnish, was even angrier than John seemed to be. Furnish lashed out at Madonna on his Facebook page, posting, “Madonna. Best song???? F— off!!!” But he didn’t stop there. ”Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit,” Furnish continued. “Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it’s narcissism. And her critisism [sic] of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”

John and Furnish’s relationship with Gaga goes back quite a bit. They’re so close that they even named Mother Monster as their son Zachary’s godmother.

So far, Lady Gaga is the only person involved in this mess to not comment. For that reason alone, she may be the smartest of the bunch!

Elton John's a nobhead  I think all the Gaga attention could be Madonna's downfall.

..did I spell attention right? :suspect:

Smithy 17-01-2012 09:05 PM

Yeah you did :joker:

and I think the fact that people are talking more about Madonna's comments on GaGa than her new album announcement speaks volumes :idc:

It is because almost every interviewer has asked questions about Lady Gaga and people are talking about that. Also she is currently pugging her film at the moment and as her album is not out yet that diverts the attention. There is not even a 100% date for the new song.

So just wait and see...

Smithy 17-01-2012 09:11 PM

yes there is, 7th february :joker:

and how many people have asked her about it compared to they have gaga? speaks volumes :joker:

Harry! 17-01-2012 09:17 PM

Some sources are saying the 3rd now. And at Golden Globes interviews she was asked about the album + the Superbowl (talked about a lot).

The real questions will start when the single and M/V is out and the Superbowl has passed.

Anyway...

Smithy 17-01-2012 09:20 PM

Why wouldn't the single be released the same day as radio release, that's what most stars do, Britney, GaGa, Rihanna etc

Friday is the 3rd (Radio play)

Sunday is the 5th (Day of Superbowl)

Tuesday is the 7th (Normal day of release)

To do that it could have some air play prior for promo, build up for the SB and then release on the 7th as a chance to increase sales.

Again this is not the M thread so...

It's being sent to radio on the 7th so will probably get released to iTunes then seeing as it's a Tuesday.
