I couldn't believe Manhunt 2 usually goes for £60+ on ebay. Then i read about it, had no idea of the controversy at the time. I don't even remember playing it, i remember the first one and played that through once. So anyway, yeah im gonna be playing Manhunt 2 over the weekend, then gonna list it on ebay.

Anyone else played it? Remember the controversy surrounding it?

I remember the controversy.

Trying to get a copy of that Game was nigh on impossible in Tamworth.

I think, actually im sure, i got it in Blockbuster Video on or around the day of release.

I wonder if other retailers refused to stock the game, even though legal, just, on appeal?!!

I went through so many PS2 games on ebay, ones i own, to see what they're worth, and most are worth a few quid max, and one of the last ones i checked was Manhunt 2, i was over the moon to see it was worth a nice few quid. It's probably worth as much as all the other games i have put together :joker:

The Warriors looks like it could get £15, as mine is in like new condition. But other than that, yeah, Manhunt 2 is my little Diamond in the rough

I think it's because Manhunt 2 is quite rare to find in the UK that it ups it's price value.

And yeah I'm gathering that Manhunt 2 would have a more limited appeal, so sadly shops were less inclined to have loads in stock.

Yeah, that certainly makes sense. I mean CEX don't have any copies in stock, online or otherwise, which in itself is rare. Though only offer £22 cash, which is pathetic. Most on ebay are £80 or more Buy it Now. So i would expect to get £60 ish. If not i'll just keep it.

Yeah retailers were probably worried of any backlash too. I mean i remember the controversy with the first one, but not the second. It was an interesting wiki read.

I think at one point, Manhunt 2 was nearly outright banned altogether in the UK, it was pretty crazy at the time.

Was the first Manhunt really controversial as well then?

Yeah i was reading about it, after being rejected by the BBFC, even after an edited, less graphic version was submitted it was still rejected. So Take Two appealed, and they won 4 votes to 3 from some Committee . But, BBFC took them to Court, and again it just scrapped through at a 4 to 3 vote win. It's barely legal lol. Even Hilary Clinton campaigned to have it banned in the US.

Yeah, the Mail were all over it, trying to get it banned. News at 10 featured it etc..Was the first mainstream game of it's kind.

God that's nail bitingly close.

Personally speaking I never get these people that want to censor entertainment products (or outright ban products) just because they don't like them.

I mean I get you've got to have some basic limits, like Live Action Shows can't go around showing out and out Paedo content because of it being CP, but things like violence in Video Games is just not something that anyone should try to ban imo, in some Games it can actually enhance their quality imo.

What's your thoughts on it all?

I 100% agree with you. Im against almost any form of censorship, or the cancellation of people, media etc...

Society as a whole is extremely sensitive, Manhunt, nor Manhunt 2 would ever be made nowadays. Maybe some unknown indie company would make PC games of the like. But mainstream companies, no way on earth.

But yeah, hate censorship and cancellation. They even censor shows like Malcolm in the Middle here now on All 4. John Candy does a impression of a Jamaican whilst drinking Rum in Planes, Trains and Automobiles, that 5 seconds was edited out of the showing of that film over Christmas on C5. It's so pathetic lol.

I agree with you about society being too sensitive at the moment, it's why entertainment is in general a lot more tame and weaker in quality imo.

And I also agree with you about the Manhunt franchise, it would have to be an Indie company that's willing to have a controversial reputation that would take it on these days.

And Malcolm In The Middle gets censored over a joke? It's almost like it's being a Comedy.

Oh and I've been playing Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath Of Cortex again.

It's such a blast from the past.

I never played that, hope you're enjoying it. I got my old CRT out the spare room earlier, and my PS2, i have it hooked up i the corner of my bedroom, along with a VHS player too lol.

I need to find the control for the TV though, i wonder, would any universal control work?? The descriptions on ebay don't make it clear it'll work on an old CRT TV.

Redway 22-01-2023 03:16 AM

I don’t do games.

Thanks, it was a blast to play.

Imo a severely underrated Crash Bandicoot Game.

According to Universalremotehelp.com (apologies for the advertisement Mods) apparently a universal control will work on a CRT TV.

Just ordered Hogwarts, Never read a word of the books or seen a second of the films, beyond the memes.

Manhunt is a good game. One of my favourites, luckily enough I bought it on PlayStation store on my PS3, they had ps1 & ps2 classics you could buy and oddly enough Manhunt was one of the games that was on there.

Wrath of Cortex isn’t bad but I still think it lacked behind the naughty dog games. I remember really hating the Atlasphere levels.

That's honestly a shame, because as an industry while it has it's problems, it's quality by and large is holding up better than current TV Shows and arguably even Movies imo.

It's probably 50-50 with Japanese Anime imo.

Oh I agree with you that the Naughty Dog Games are peak Crash Bandicoot Games imo, but I would personally hold Wrath Of Cortex at the same level as It's About Time.

In fairness I do like me some Mortal Kombat and the whole domain of computer-games (from Skyrider to racing to Hot Dog Bush), always have, but generally I was always that kid who’d read bare books rather than get involved with too much to do with video-gaming. I ain’t never owned a PSx or an XBox in my life.

That's fair enough.

And tbf Books are cool.

That they are. It’s just about what different people want and prefer to spend their money on but I totally understand where video game-enthusiasts are coming from. Like I said I’m privy and partial to a good chunk of them (including wrestling ones, which I didn’t actually mention before) but I’ve only played them in the past when I’ve happened to be at a buddy or cousin’s house. I wouldn’t bother with them solely on my own accord so when I am in a gaming mood I just use the internet

Ever heard of Street Sesh before?

Oh I get where you're coming from, because I'm like that with Movies tbh.

Is Street Sesh an online Sports Game?
