Thing is, bringing LF will help, but I think the promotion is the thing that would help the most. If it launches with 2m then there's no way it will stay like that through the run, it always drops, regardless how good a series is. For it to average 2m across the run, it needs a 3m+ launch figure and the way they need to do that is promote it intensely!

This year launched with 2.1m, so I knew it wouldn't stay above 1.6 in the overnights. Had it launched with 3.5m for example, then it would be averaging around 2.5m.

I'm thinking the producers can't wait for January's CBB and hope it does as good as CBB13 did. I mean these ratings are staggering for Ch5...

CBB13 Launch- 3.69m
Lee's Eviction (3 days before final)- 3.63m
CBB13 final- 3.71m *peak of 4m.

Although this is a "miserable" house with not much fun, it seems to be doing well.... in the circumstances.

I love it. It's a great mix of housemates. :D

I am hoping they will axe the Summer CBB this year it gets like a Million less than the Winter CBB does, there is no need for the Summer Version

There is no way that CBB will be axed. It would be like ITV all of a sudden cancelling IAC, BGT and X Factor on the same day.

Agree just hope civilian bb is renewed as well

Rob! 10-07-2014 12:12 PM

1.09 (5.0%) for last night.

Jake. 10-07-2014 12:22 PM

Another decent rating against the footie

Will. 10-07-2014 12:46 PM

Decent rating against the football!!

Sam:) 10-07-2014 01:03 PM

Being completely honest this series is doing shockingly. Should be over the 1.5 mark consistently, People are forgetting that half the time big brother isn't even competing against the football. There is just no hype around this series whatsoever. Especially when you compare it to the last CBB. I know CBB rates higher but we should have held on to at least an extra 200-300k of them.

Rob! 10-07-2014 01:18 PM

I'm slightly concerned about how it's going to do for the first couple of days of Armagaddon - it's up against the first two episodes of the new series of Utopia.

Jamesy 10-07-2014 01:39 PM

I doubt the Armageddon week will improve figures at all tbh. It might get a few peoples interest although the damage was already done on launch day in my eyes.

I'm sure they will. Even though figures have been lower this year they will know why figures have been low and know what to do to get them up next year. I'm hoping if it gets renewed Viacom provide them with more money to invest into the show so it can get a good boost next year.

At the moment it feels very cheaply done with no promotion. If they promoted the show prior to launch figures would be far better. Sadly they seem to only bother promoting CBB heavily now.

Yaki da 10-07-2014 01:41 PM

I'll be turning off if Ashleigh goes. But the Aramgeddon twist might boost it a little. But when it becomes the damp squib it so obviously will be, more will turn off

*mazedsalv** 10-07-2014 01:46 PM

If tonight if 1.3m+than I don't think we need to worry at all. Monday managed 1.40m, so the twist next week could do 1.5m on the Monday?

I would presume tomorrow's eviction will kick everything off for Armagaddon as there aren't any special shows before Monday - mind you evictions haven't been rating much better if at all better than HLs recently so we shall just have to see. Any idea if the 1.09 from last night is with +1 or not Salv? I nicked the rating off you on DS :hehe:

jackc1806 10-07-2014 02:01 PM

It's holding up well. Especially for C5. C4 has fell apart at 10pm this week.

Iceman 10-07-2014 02:17 PM

Does anyone know what the 1 million pound drop got last series??

It's excluding +1. The google rating site suggests it got 60k on +1 which brings it to 1.15m, but need to clarify that.

They'll never axe it because it's still up from regular BB usually by around 500-700K. Yes it's not as popular as Winter CBB, but they're hardly going to drop something that does even better than another series. If they were to drop any series, in terms of ratings - which makes money - it'd most certainly be the regular version.. even though not many are in favour of Summer CBB it often comes in 2nd or 3rd in it's time-slot, which almost all other Channel 5 shows fail to do.. sorry!

I wonder if Utopia will be a success or not, having missed the first season, I would certainly not watch it.. also the ratings for it's episodes are as followed: 1.70m, 1.45m, 1.42m, 1.52m, 1.21m, 1.15m. Some of those last ratings are similar to what the current BB achieves.. hopefully with the right advertisement through air and social media, enough people can be persuaded back to BB, especially as Utopia has such a niche market, compared with BB, whose audience is still fairly wide.. I also think BBs wide youth audience wouldn't bat an eye to Utopia! I imagine BB Armageddon will do well. However I do feel it will be pipped to the post ratings wise ever so slightly by C4. Nonetheless, the ratings for 18-35 year olds for BB are likely to be far higher, something channel's are more interested to target due to the ease of more purchasing power on disposable items! Let's hope for a good run!

I read somewhere that Viacom's Channel 5 budget was going to be way bigger than it stands today as they care about the quality of programming and are less concerned with initial costs due to the large scale of the company. I doubt they'd get rid of regular BB over CBB, can you imagine the uproar! It'd also probably mean a decline in CBB ratings if that were the case, I mean, a million people still watch regular BB, I'm pretty sure a large majority would watch the CBB series too, remove that and CBB could be unfavourable.. look at C5 and C4 ratings.. so many people turned off out of pure disgust for C4 to cancel the show, and have never come back!

I also think Viacom would do well with promotion. Look at Geordie Shore, that gets weeks of promotions, and not just on MTV.. I've seen it advertised on ITV before.. and it works! It's the most successful MTV show, regularly hitting over a million viewers per episode, and is near par with this year's BB overnight ratings.. In my eyes. Viacom taking control of BB and CBB can only be good! As long as the boards of Viacom insist that BB Producers promote well. Not tacky! We all have to remember, C5 actually has little control over BB. Instead BB producers have changed the design of the show to suit what they believe a more youthful audience want.. which channel 5 wanted!

Im sure last summers was only up by about 300/400k.

Also why are people suddenly agreeing with the idea them scrapping BB and keeping CBB is a possibility now when I got abuse for even suggesting such things last week lol.
