I loved One World, and feel like one of the few that do. It's so messy/entertaining

I'm glad I'm not the only one then :p

And Tarzan is brilliant... what's even more funny is the fact he might have been acting it all.

No way! I want it to be real :p

Macie Lightfoot 12-02-2017 05:48 PM

The thing about One World is that you're gonna forget all about it as soon as you're done. Like, who is Michael? Jonas? Jay? Nina? I just found the whole thing to be dull and lifeless, with an extremely bland cast to boot.

reece(: 12-02-2017 05:49 PM

Nina was great :nono:

It's been said :joker: who knows!

Macie Lightfoot 12-02-2017 06:16 PM

lmfao ****ing Andrea saying that HER WHOLE, LIKE, IMAGE OF MATT CHANGED WHEN KRISTA GAVE HIM HER BIBLE give me a break. She's another one of those ~prolific returnees~ who I really have no substantial opinion on so maybe I'll form one in time for Game Changers. Or maybe I won't, who knows? Poor Matt though, people like Rob and Andrea keep projecting all this untrustworthy **** onto him when he's just someone who is really really religious.

Words by Jeff Probst himself:

"Alicia, pathetic." :joker:

I take back any positive things I said about Colton :umm2:

Braden 12-02-2017 07:10 PM

One thing about Colton's "medevac" - I remember Jeff saying that it was considered a quit during BvW because he was dubbed a 'two-time quitter', but what were the exact reasons Jeff had for changing his mind about his medevac.

Dr. Ramona literally said they had to take him to hospital for tests?

I looked back at my R.I. ranking which I still about 100% agree with and won't bother bringing it up but then.... I decided to look back at my thoughts on South Pacific from right after I watched it and I'm actually kinda surprised at first but then afterwards not so much.

Cast ranking:

---(faves)---
1. Ozzy (renewed himself as being a top Survivor favorite of mine)
2. Semhar (first boot legend  there was no one else I really liked enough to be #2)
3. Brandon (lmao... his antics were one of the few highlights this season)
---(liked)---
4. Albert (didn't care for him for most of the game lol yet he's #4 for a pretty good second half)
5. Cochran (pretty likable, not that he was bad on Caramoan, but I much preferred him this time.. not even mad he flipped because aside from Ozzy that tribe sucked anyway)
---(ok)---
6. Mikayla (I'm struggling here to rank people)
7. Elyse (^)
8. Mark (had a few little funny moments and I liked his general attitude... good enough for me to give you some credit on this cast)
9. Coach (he's gotten slightly more rootable with each season but he's mostly even this high because I didn't care for anyone else at all)
---(meh)---
10. Christine (the fire under her was pretty rootable at R.I., she had a few moments even before that I guess)
11. Rick (not lower because he never really annoyed me... but he was basically never really there to have that opportunity)
12. Dawn (nowhere near as annoying as in Caramoan but still just so meh)
13. Whitney (kind of like an entitled, non-endearing, & bland version of Natalie from Samoa... doesn't mean she's awful, a poor version of Natalie is still somewhat decent to me lol)
14. Jim (abrasive personality that was never really funny or likable, had maybe 1 or 2 quality moments but mostly annoying)
15. Stacey (^ but her little rant over "Benjamin" at the R.I. battle was kinda funny and worth noting)
---(disliked)---
16. Edna (painfully boring and like... boring)
17. Keith (douche with zero personality or charisma.. even as an ally of Ozzy I just still couldn't support him whatsoever, part of why I didn't mind Cochran flipping lol)
18. Sophie (brat was a very good way to describe her so I'll leave it at that)

At least I now have this season out of the way. On to the next one.

Like at first glance, WTF @ me ranking Coach #9. I might lower him a bit now BUT then after I think about it I guess Coach in SoPa was my favorite Coach incarnation (I won't go into detail because I still don't think he's good by any means)... However, the SoPa cast as a whole was just so garbage and that's the main thing here. It was so hard to find people to like in South Pacific. I'd lower Jim a few more spots and maybe higher Stacey a spot or two but aside from that I still agree with the rest of this cast ranking. But regardless of how I do the ranking, the people on this cast are mostly just a big blur of meh or annoying people. I said Whitney was entitled and in a non-endearing way, which yes she was, but yet I still gave her some credit within this cast. :nono: :joker:

Literally #11-18 are so bad that I have a hard time ranking them in hindsight as well.

"11. Rick (not lower because he never really annoyed me... but he was basically never really there to have that opportunity)"

Actually funny to me because when Macie was re-watching and I read "Rick" in the cast, I had NO CLUE who that was even after going to check what he looked like. :joker: :joker: :joker:

Anyway, not that Redemption Island is great but it's definitely a better season than South Pacific. Not only based on casts but the drama/entertainment in SoPa literally revolved around Brandon being psycho & the Cochran flip which was also semi-hard to watch (@ both Brandon & the Cochran flip :joker:).

Macie Lightfoot 12-02-2017 08:00 PM

okay but I'm almost halfway through a Redemption Island rewatch and we still don't know anyone other than Rob and Phillip. Matt is probably the third most developed character, and he has been living on an island by himself since Day 5.

I disagree but you don't even need to know anyone else when Rob & Phillip are providing great TV time and time again.

Macie Lightfoot 12-02-2017 08:35 PM

Nobody else has been given any characterization though. Grant doesn't exist, Natalie and Ashley are lazy, and Andrea just randomly appears with a confessional about the possibility of Matt returning from RI. And then you have Zapatera, which has Mike AND Steve AND Julie AND David (and now even Ralph) all swapping in and out as bland narrators. The only storyline is "Sarita is weak and David can't stand her guts" and it came out of nowhere. We are literally given no reason to care about any of those people.

Not to mention that Rob and Phillip, the only two people with any amount of craft to their edit, can be summarized as a next-level gamebot and a next-level pain in the ass respectively. You're pretty much watching the same content from them every single episode.

Macie Lightfoot 13-02-2017 01:43 AM

Officially done with the RI pre-merge and I don't have anything else to add really. Again, everything on Ometepe revolved around Rob effortlessly masterminding everything (are we supposed to be invested in the fact that this is his fourth go-around? Most winners seal the deal on their first try, and most people don't even get to play Survivor to begin with) and Phillip being loud and forced and contrived and obnoxious. There's literally nothing else happening with this tribe. As for Zapatera, the big focus was ~Sarita vs. David~ except that Sarita was booted so the tribe's only storyline is done. Mike and Ralph and Julie and Steve are literally serving no purpose (as are Grant and Ashley and Natalie! And Andrea is questionable.) It's literally a show about two people at this rate.

My other note is that David is ****ing insufferable and one of the most smug humans alive. Barking in Sarita's face about how HIS WHOLE LIFE REVOLVES AROUND HIGH PRESSURE SITUATIONS and because he is a lawyer, he will be doing every puzzle from now on POINT BLANK PERIOD, END OF DISCUSSION........... I can't tell what I'm more disturbed by, his arrogance and overconfidence in his ability to do literally ANY type of puzzle literally only because he is a lawyer, or the fact that Zapatera eats this **** up and seems to agree. IDK, he sucks and I hope he just ****s off until he gives his awful jury speech.

JerseyWins 13-02-2017 02:16 AM

Personally, I'll take a show that revolves around Rob & Phillip with a cameo from a crazy Russell Hantz in the beginning over a show that revolves around Coach & Cochran with a crazy Brandon Hantz running around.

Don't get me wrong though, Zapatera was incredibly boring and terrible to watch but it was very satisfying to see them get taken down by Rob's mafia of "zombies" after the merge. Rob's side was really fun to watch throughout despite the predictability.

it's re-edited with less Russell and the secret scenes put in instead. Not totally Russell-less.

Still iconic

Thailand is so boring that it might prevent me from finishing all the seasons before Game Changers like I had planned. </3 (although I've also just been extremely busy lately so it's not all on Thailand being terrible)

I might just give up on it and start with Amazon the next time I decide to watch some Survivor. :joker: I'm reeeally looking forward to the All Stars season now.

I can't imagine how bad Samoa would be without Russell in it. :nono:

We'd at least maybe get to know some of the people from Galu, and they seemed pretty awesome with their limited screen time.

I haven't liked Alicia much at all during One World, but her pointing out Troyzan wearing different shorts at tribal council is too good.
