Hollyoaks star Jennifer Metcalfe has predicted that her character Mercedes McQueen will continue her cheating ways in the coming weeks.

Mercedes has enjoyed an on-off fling with pub landlord Carl Costello this year, despite being engaged to his footballer son Riley (Rob Norbury).

Although Mercedes has recently tried to keep her distance from Carl, the storyline is revisited in next week's episodes as her sister Jacqui (Claire Cooper) finds out about the affair. Jacqui also learns that Mercedes is planning to fake a miscarriage after lying about being pregnant.

Jacqui is left disgusted by her sibling's behaviour and her discoveries leave Mercedes panic-stricken as she believes that her betrayal of Riley is about to be exposed to all.

However, pondering her character's next move, Metcalfe told Soaplife: "She wants Riley. She loves Riley. But she can't help fancying Carl. There's a difference between love and lust in Mercedes's eyes. Carl is really keen and if she gave him the nod, he'd be right back in there.

"If Jacqui keeps her mouth shut, Mercedes will be relieved she's still got Riley and won't be thinking about Carl - although I think they could end up in bed together again!"

Metcalfe also admitted that keeping Jacqui quiet will prove a difficult task as she seems determined to reveal the truth.

She said: "It's horrible. Mercedes feels like her world could collapse around her at any moment."

Predicted? She would know if they have filmed the scenes:laugh2:.

Hollyoaks star Craig Vye has admitted that he expects his character Ethan Scott to find himself single at the end of his current love triangle storyline.

Ethan is currently in a relationship with student Liberty Savage (Abi Phillips), but has also found himself attracted to Theresa McQueen (Jorgie Porter) over the past few months.

Episodes of Hollyoaks airing later this month see Ethan finally get dumped by Liberty after she finds out that she has been betrayed by her boyfriend and best friend.

The couple's break-up paves the way for Ethan and Theresa to finally get together, but a further twist sees the policeman soon drawn back to Liberty, taking him back to square one.

"Liberty has been quite needy with the whole wedding thing, but Ethan sees her in a different light when she gets all standoffish with him," Vye told Soaplife of the storyline. "He sees her sing at Chez Chez and it's clear he's still smitten."

Vye confirmed that Ethan secretly reunites with Liberty, despite having told Theresa that he is free to be with her.

"He's fallen for Theresa yet part of him still loves Liberty," he said. "They share a kiss and it looks like they're secretly back on."

Asked whether Ethan's actions could end badly, the actor replied: "It looks like it. I can see Ethan ending up on his own, but that could be the best thing for him - he's clearly not ready to settle down!"

I think it will, reckon she'll find out about Theresa being a killer (stumbling upon a conversation between Theresa and Ethan) and will then attempt to blackmail her but then Silas strikes on her wedding day to Ethan (my storyline idea:p).

Liberty is easy to get rid of because Jorgie P is popular and they won't want her chracter to leave, even if they wrongly made her a killer.

I was liking what I saw on E4 till I remembered Emmerdale was on:p, trying to watch the 6:30 episodes only from now on ha ha.

It's annoying how they have a few good storylines going on then one really awful one that kills the episode. Basically Duncan lol He's just awful

I think the actor is alright, they've just given him awful storylines and cringy stuff to act:shocked:.

Wish I could give a dam about the Mercedes-Riley-Carl plot but it's awful. It was rushed into, repetitive and eventually boring. Even the Silas plot hasn't added any extra spark.

Plus, I'm sure Mercedes has lied about a miscarriage before. Only it was after an abortion. Unless they can give her something good I say it's time Mercedes left.

^ I really like Mercedes and they had the potential to really change her adulterous ways after Mal died but oh no they had to go and make her have another affair:bored:. Hopefully once the truth comes out they will this time redeem her!

It baffles me how the tides turn in fanbases when a character turns gay.

People didn't really like Ste and laughed at the thought of Brendan as a villain. Put them together in a domestic abusive, closeted homosexual relationship and people are acting like they are gods. Same thing with Christian and Syed on Eastenders. And Sophie and Sian on Corrie. Hated characters that people suddenly love. The appreciation threads these characters get on DigitalSpy makes me wanna hurl.

No she joined the cast first as a supporting character called Margot but now she's been promoted up to the lead role:).

They should have had Ste still straight but go back to his DV ways but this time through Rae, then Amy would have came to her rescue knowing the same thing happened to her. Although he's great being good.

Hollyoaks stars have been spotted filming on-location in Ibiza for a forthcoming storyline.

Jennifer Metcalfe and Nicole Barber-Lane, who play feisty McQueen family members Mercedes and Myra, are among the cast who recently flew out to the Spanish island to film special scenes for the programme.

Digital Spy understands that the Ibiza storyline will feature in the fourth series of Hollyoaks Later, which airs for five nights on E4 later this year.

During shooting for the late-night spinoff show, Metcalfe was spotted wearing a fake baby bump on a beach, sparking speculation that Mercedes will fall pregnant in a forthcoming storyline twist.

Mercedes's current plot on the main soap has seen her pretend to be expecting a baby as part of a desperate bid to keep her steamy affair with Carl Costello under wraps. She has been engaged to Carl's son Riley for several months.

As a result of the love cheat's deception, show bosses are keeping tight-lipped over whether Mercedes is still pretending to be pregnant in Hollyoaks Later or is expecting a baby with Riley for real.

A Hollyoaks source told Digital Spy this morning: "There's plenty of twists to come in this storyline and in a week of episodes airing at the end of the month, viewers will see Mercedes's big dilemma over Riley and the 'pregnancy' come to a head."

Hollyoaks star Hollie-Jay Bowes has reprised her role as Michaela McQueen following a year away from the soap, show bosses have confirmed.

Michaela will return to screens for the fourth series of Hollyoaks Later, which is due to air in autumn 2011.

The character's surprise comeback was being kept under wraps by Hollyoaks producers, but speculation began today when paparazzi pictures emerged showing Bowes filming on-location in Ibiza alongside her screen family members Jennifer Metcalfe (Mercedes) and Nicole Barber-Lane (Myra).

In addition to Michaela's return, Hollyoaks Later will introduce viewers to a new member of the McQueen clan, who is to be played by Amy Walsh - sister of Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh.

Meanwhile, former EastEnders actor Chris Coghill (Tony King) has also been cast in the late-night E4 spinoff show, though his role is currently unknown.

Hollyoaks Later's fourth series is being produced by the main soap's series editor Claire Fryer and will air as a week-long run of five hour-long episodes later this year.

Full storyline information and the reason for the special Ibiza scenes will be kept under wraps until closer to transmission.

Bowes played the role of Michaela for four years before leaving the soap last summer. Michaela was seen departing the village and heading to London to be with on-off boyfriend Zak.

I got tweeted back by a Karen Hassan fan group saying that Lynsey has a big juicy Summer storyline coming back, perhaps it is the Silas stuff because she had a big part to play in that or maybe she'll be in Later because Riley looked out for her after the attack.. plus Lynsey also suspected Mercedes wasn't pregnant didn't she?;)
