I think it's just the cliche ~changing of the guard~ that the commentators have been hyping up for a few years but is actually coming into fruition now? Teahna Daniels has been one of the top collegians for a while and has a bunch of high podium finishes from her collegiate years and she's been the one who is actually transitioning very well into running professionally and Morolake Akinsoun has always been someone on the bubble bc she ran in the 4x1 heats and Rio and the 4x1 final in London.

And Sha'Carri Richardson was never really on anyone's radar until she popped out her 10.75. Like she was running extremely well for a freshman in college and she was a contender to win NCAAs but the 10.75 was nowhere near expected. Good for her on cashing in on that but I just don't want another Kaylin Whitney or Candace Hill.

And yeah they said Gatlin pulled out of the 100 final bc he already has the bye, and then Ato Bolden threw some shade and said he just wanted to duck out of racing Christian Coleman :joker:

Yeah I was wondering what happened to Candace Hill but then I saw her name in the list of semi final losers so I guess I got my answer!

This channel is uploading the races from the US Champs, I'll try and follow it throgh this when I can't watch it live:

And we IMMEDIATELY start with an Allyson Felix tribute, because apparently no woman has ever come back from giving birth before.

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 08:16 PM

omg this first semifinal of women's 100H is STACKED all but one of them have gone 12.72 or faster this year

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 08:19 PM

That being said, Ali, Nelvis, Claye (nee Harrison), and McNeal were the obvious top four so it's good they all qualified.

Second semi I would predict Harrison, Clemons (nee Manning), Brissett, and....... maybe Marshall? I feel like Castlin will sneak in there but IDK who she would beat out. Maybe Brissett?

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 08:24 PM

"Keni Harrison grew up in a household where she was one of eleven kids...... but in this world she stands alone" is one of the most bizarre statements I've heard a sports commentator make.

And yuuuuuup Castlin beat Marshall and bumped Brissett out like I suspected asdfjkl;

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 08:27 PM

WIG at DeAnna Price setting an American record and WL on her final throw. Glad women's hammer is becoming A Thing in the US with her and Gwen Berry and then the youth like Maggie Ewen, Madi Malone, and Alyssa Wilson

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 08:29 PM

asdfjkl; that JOURNEY TO GOLD #ItsGoTime USATF commercial was soooo extra

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 08:41 PM

Is this our third Allyson Felix tongue bath in 40 minutes?

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 08:43 PM

And we're literally analyzing her chances of making the team :skull:

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 08:44 PM

Like I guess we're just not watching the 110H first round

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 08:51 PM

1500 Predictions: Houlihan, Simpson...... maybe Hiltz for the final spot? Would not be surprised if it's Grace though or even Cranny. IDK I honestly haven't been following distance races that much lately honestly so I could be way off on that third spot

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 08:53 PM

Wait but the five I picked are all in the top five #wig

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 08:55 PM

k Cranny fell apart in the last 150 and Hiltz just got past Grace and ****ing Sinclaire Johnson, who I need to stop sleeping on since she beat out Hull in NCAAs, right at the end

Headie 27-07-2019 08:57 PM

A Laura Muir shoutout <3

And I swear Sifan Hassan isn't doing the 1500 this year but w/e, that might be Kipyegon Icr

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 09:12 PM

Predicted 400H final:

Little, Tate, Spencer auto qualifiers from the first heat. Seymour, Muhammad, McLaughlin auto qualifiers from the second heat. Cockrell and...... Barber for the fastest losers?

This field is such a mess like there's a girl in the second heat who hasn't even broken 60 seconds AND they had to cancel the first round due to low entries

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 09:14 PM

k Barber ran like ****e but that eighth spot is gonna get last in the final tomorrow anyway so who cares.

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 09:27 PM

48.69 getting FIFTH jesus

Omg is Allyson crying

Macie Lightfoot 27-07-2019 09:35 PM

Wimbley/Ellis/Jonathas was my prediction in that order with Okolo in fourth MY WIG

Me too! IDK why but I've always liked him. He has World Youth and Pan Am Junior wins under his belt and he still has a year or two left of NCAAs so I have faith he'll develop!

jsagi;ojs;gliwja I just realized Felix was plopped down there right next to Wimbley. I thought it was the three who actually qualified but no :joker:
