A typical pretentious meh of an episode from Gatiss. Glad we might not be getting another episode from him any time soon.

Scarlett. 10-06-2017 11:18 PM

I thought it was a pretty decent story, lol.

Ashley. 10-06-2017 11:22 PM

Slightly underwhelming.

MB. 10-06-2017 11:41 PM

That... wasn't great, and next week doesn't look much better

Scarlett. 10-06-2017 11:44 PM

I wasn't expecting much from this week, or next week, basically just waiting for the finale now xD

All he would say is the new doctor is younger then Capaldi

Tom4784 11-06-2017 07:01 PM

He's probably just desperate for attention tbh.

Anyone could tell you that the next doctor will be younger than Capaldi, it's common sense.

Marsh. 11-06-2017 07:14 PM

Yeah. It's highly likely they'll be younger than a man approaching 60.

Just like it was highly likely the one after Matt Smith would be older as he was pretty much the youngest Doctor ever.

Jesus is Capaldi only 59?? :worry:

Denver 12-06-2017 04:12 PM

There is a major death in the series finale and it isnt the doctor

Denver 12-06-2017 04:13 PM

But before Twelve bows out for good, he's got some incredibly tough decisions to make, and it sounds like not all of them have paid off.

"Friendship drives the Doctor into the rashest decision of his life," the synopsis reads. "Trapped on a giant spaceship, caught in the event horizon of a black hole, he witnesses the death of someone he is pledged to protect.

"Is there any way he can redeem his mistake? Are events already out of control? For once, time is the Time Lord's enemy."

Don't you start I'm already sick of the tumblr and Twitter crowd moaning about him having wrinkles. :oh:

Marsh. 12-06-2017 04:23 PM

Moffat said the finale was a bloodbath before the series even started.

Spoiler:

I'm starting to suspect Missy will redeem herself and somehow die and then John Simm Master is used to help save his future self or something.
And maybe in doing so Missy kills Bill? Idk heartbreaking etc etc.

The best companions always get the heartbreaking endings. :(

Wow I can't believe they're killing off Nardole!

Marsh. 12-06-2017 04:45 PM

I really don't get Nardole's popularity on DS.

I remember them being pleasantly surprised when Catherine Tate wasn't just a caricature from one of her sketch shows and yet that's all Nardole is. He's like a Little Britain character and Matt Lucas although a good actor is not here. He's awful.

Might help if he held any relevance to the plot but he doesn't.

MB. 12-06-2017 04:49 PM

tbf he's the only one trying (and failing) to keep the Doctor and Missy to either end of their bargains, which must have some relevance somewhere

Jamesy 12-06-2017 04:54 PM

Thing with Nardole is that you could remove him from the majority of his appearances this series and it wouldn't make any difference at all to the episodes. Bill on her own would have worked just fine imo, don't really see the point in Nardole being there.

Marsh. 12-06-2017 04:56 PM

Also why in episode 1 was he all robotic making mechanical noises as he moved with screws falling off him but now he doesn't?

I feel I've missed something somewhere. Maybe a whole episode?

MB. 12-06-2017 04:58 PM

I barely remember that, but if so wasn't the Doctor trying to convince Bill that Nardole was a robot for... some reason? Or am I confusing that with Missy pretending to be a robot back in series 8?

Ashley. 12-06-2017 05:01 PM

Yeah I thought Nardole was a robot too.

But a couple of episodes ago he was in hospital with t'bad leg or something so I guess not?

I remember hating Donna the first time I watched it, but I've just rewatched that season and (after about the half way point of the season) I actually quite liked her as a companion :worry:. What has happened to me. Then again I think maybe the reason I hated her was because I can't stand her sketch shows and couldn't get over it... but now enough time has passed for me to mostly forget them and I can appreciate her as a standalone character .

Well thinking about it, he presumably does have an android body of some sort? I mean the last we saw him before he came back as a companion, he was just a severed head who shared that big robot body. The Doctor "made" him a new body for his head so you would assume it's at least partly mechanical. Also explains why he was able to survive the dose of the world-killing toxin... it affected him because he does still have a biological head and it would have gotten into the bloodstream for that, but he would have a synthetic respiratory system so it didn't kill him. Maybe I'm over-thinking it? Anyway, the Doctor I'm sure definitely mentioned that he made a new body for Nardole, but they didn't really dwell on it after that.
